About the Chance

HummingBird is hiring a Business Data Analyst on behalf of our client, a leading organization in the Automotive industry based in Chennai.

We are looking for an experienced Business Data Analyst to analyze business and operational data, identify trends and insights, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a good understanding of business processes, experience working with large datasets, and the ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations. Experience in the automotive industry or related manufacturing environment will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Data Analysis

- Analyze business, operational, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, and financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Gather, validate, clean, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and actionable insights.
- Identify patterns, anomalies, trends, and relationships within complex datasets.
- Conduct root-cause analysis to support business and operational problem-solving.
- Develop analytical models and reports to support business decisions.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for business stakeholders.
- Develop meaningful KPIs and metrics aligned with business objectives.
- Track business performance and highlight key trends and variances.
- Automate recurring reports and improve reporting efficiency.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to business and leadership teams.

Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with business leaders, product teams, finance, operations, sales, supply chain, manufacturing, and technology teams.
- Gather and document business requirements for data and reporting initiatives.




- Translate business questions into data-driven analyses.
- Communicate complex analytical findings in a clear and business-friendly manner.
- Support stakeholders in using data effectively for decision-making.

Automotive & Operational Analytics

- Analyze automotive-related business metrics such as sales, production, inventory, supply chain, quality, warranty, and customer data.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for process improvement.
- Support demand forecasting and planning activities using historical and current data.
- Analyze supply-chain and procurement data to identify trends and risks.
- Support quality and manufacturing teams with data-driven insights.
- Develop reports related to vehicle/product performance, production efficiency, and operational KPIs where applicable.

Data Quality & Governance

- Validate data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and integrity.
- Identify data-quality issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
- Establish appropriate data-validation and reconciliation processes.
- Maintain documentation for data sources, business rules, metrics, and analytical methodologies.
- Follow organizational data-governance and security standards.

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to automate manual data-analysis and reporting processes.
- Improve existing analytical workflows and reporting processes.
- Support digital-transformation and data-analytics initiatives.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve data accessibility and decision-making.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics , or a related field.
- 4–8 years of experience in Business Analysis, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related function.
- Strong experience working with structured and large datasets.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and data querying.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel , including PivotTables, advanced formulas,



data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with data visualization and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik , or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Positive understanding of business processes and KPIs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Technical Skills Experience with several of the following will be an advantage:

- SQL: Advanced queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, window functions.
- BI Tools: Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense.
- Programming: Python or R for data analysis.
- Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Data Platforms: Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
- ETL/Data Integration: SSIS, Informatica, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle , or similar.
- Familiarity with data warehouses and dimensional data models.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.

Preferred Automotive Industry Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas will be an advantage:

- Automotive manufacturing
- Vehicle sales and distribution
- Supply chain and logistics
- Production planning
- Procurement and supplier analytics
- Quality analytics
- Warranty analytics
- After-sales/service analytics
- Inventory and demand planning
- Dealer/customer analytics
