Position Summary The Bill of Materials (BOM) Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing product Bills of Materials within ERP/PLM systems. The role ensures product structure accuracy, supports engineering change management, and collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to maintain data integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, review, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in ERP/PLM systems.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of product structures, components, and documentation.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality teams regarding BOM updates.
- Validate part numbers, descriptions, revisions, and product configurations.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and product lifecycle management.
- Perform BOM audits and data quality checks to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Analyze BOM-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Generate and maintain BOM reports, documentation, and metrics.
- Support cost analysis and material planning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in BOM management, engineering data management, or product configuration management.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Knowledge of PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Windchill, Agile, or Enovia.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and product structures.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
