Overview

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will own test strategy and quality outcomes for W-OS: designing and executing functional, integration, and regression coverage across web, API, and data layers; partnering with engineering to bake quality into CI/CD; and raising the bar for reliability, security, and performance in a fast-moving SaaS environment. You will prioritize automation with modern tooling (Playwright, Selenium) where it improves repeatability and release confidence. You will work closely with product, backend, frontend, and platform teams to translate requirements into testable acceptance criteria, automate repetitive checks, and drive defect prevention—not just detection.

Roles and Responsibilities

Test Strategy and Planning

Communicating vision, roadmap and progress to cross-functional stakeholders

Own test planning for features and releases: scope, risk-based prioritization, entry/exit criteria, and traceability from requirements to tests.

Maintain clarity between manual exploratory testing and automated regression; know when each is appropriate

Functional and API Testing

Design and execute end-to-end scenarios across React/React Native clients and REST/HTTP APIs (including auth flows, e.g.



JWT/Cognito-style patterns)

Validate contract behavior, error handling, idempotency, and backward compatibility where APIs evolve

Collaborate with backend teams on integration points (gateways, queues, async jobs) and verify observability signals (logs, metrics, traces) for critical paths

Test Automation

Build and maintain automated suites with Playwright and/or Selenium (UI), plus API automation where applicable, integrated into Jenkins pipelines with quality gates aligned to SonarQube and team standards

Apply solid practices for locator strategy, synchronization, and parallel runs; know when to prefer Playwright (speed, tracing, codegen) vs Selenium (ecosystem, Grid, legacy stacks)

Improve stability, speed, and maintainability of tests; reduce flakiness through reliable waits, isolated test data, and environment discipline

Promote reusable fixtures, page objects (or equivalent), and shared API clients

Data, Migrations and non-functional quality

Validate database-backed behavior and schema/migration outcomes in coordination with Liquibase/Flyway-style workflows and shared environments

Participate in performance and load testing for high-throughput or LLM-heavy paths where applicable; document baselines and regressions

Support security-minded testing (OWASP-relevant checks on the client and API layers, basic abuse cases, authZ boundaries

AI/ LLM Features

Design test approaches for non-deterministic behavior: structured evaluation of outputs, golden-set comparisons where appropriate, and regression checks for guardrails, fallbacks, and streaming/stream-cutoff edge cases

Coordinate with engineering on prompt/version changes and setting-specific behavior (dev/qa/uat)

Process, Tooling and Collaboration

Triage defects, reproduce production-escalation issues,



and drive root-cause discussions with engineering

Improve test documentation, dashboards, and release readiness checklists; represent QA in agile ceremonies

Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to QA standards, checklists, and continuous improvement

DevOps and Environment

Work comfortably across AWS-backed environments (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, caches, queues); validate deployments and configuration per environment

Partner with SRE/DevOps on test data, secrets handling in lower environments, and pipeline hooks for smoke/regression suites

Prerequisites

4–7 years in software quality assurance or SDET roles; strong experience in SaaS or multi-tenant products

Hands-on API testing (Postman/Insomnia, REST, status codes, auth headers, pagination, async flows)

Hands-on UI testing for complex SPAs (React or equivalent); understanding of network tab debugging and client-side errors

Solid experience with browser test automation using Playwright and/or Selenium (including WebDriver concepts, locators, and debugging failing runs), plus at least one programming or scripting language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java strongly preferred for alignment with team stacks)

Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD (Jenkins or equivalent) and working with Git branching and code review

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written communication for bugs, test cases, and release notes

Experience with relational databases and writing or validating SQL for test assertions and data setup

Comfort working in Agile/Scrum with distributed teams

Experience

4–7 years professional QA/SDET experience; significant exposure to multi-tenant SaaS is strongly preferred

1+ years mentoring or leading test initiatives within a squad (informal or formal)

Track record of improving automation coverage and reducing escape defects to production

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
