We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager - Payroll (Reporting, Billing & FP&A;) to manage payroll analytics, manpower billing, workforce cost planning, and financial reporting for assigned client account/s. The role will partner with Operations, HR, Payroll, Commercial, and Finance teams to drive payroll cost visibility, forecasting accuracy, revenue assurance, and contract profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Reporting & Analytics
Prepare monthly payroll MIS, manpower cost reports, and contract profitability analysis.
Perform payroll expense reconciliations and variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
Monitor headcount, attendance, overtime, attrition, and labor cost trends across sites and clients.
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting and audits.
Payroll FP&A;
Develop and manage payroll budgets, forecasts, and workforce cost projections.
Analyze payroll cost drivers, productivity metrics, wage inflation, and manpower utilization trends.
Partner with Operations and HR teams to forecast headcount requirements and labor costs.
Track actual payroll spend versus budget and identify risks, opportunities, and cost optimization initiatives.
Support annual operating plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and strategic workforce planning activities.
Provide management with insights on workforce profitability, site-level margins, and labor cost efficiency.
Payroll Billing & Revenue Assurance
Manage end-to-end payroll-based customer billing for manpower and facility management contracts.
Validate attendance, payroll inputs, statutory components, and commercial terms prior to invoicing.
Ensure timely and accurate billing of wages, overtime, PF, ESI, bonus, gratuity, and service fees.
Identify billing discrepancies, revenue leakage, and margin erosion, and drive corrective actions.
Support customer dispute resolution and collections through detailed cost and billing analysis.
Commercial & Compliance Support
Support contract costing, pricing reviews, renewals, and business proposals.
Evaluate financial viability and profitability of current contracts and manpower deployments.
Ensure compliance with labor laws and statutory payroll obligations.
Maintain strong controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
MBA (Finance), CA Inter, CMA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
5-8 years of experience in Payroll Reporting, FP&A;, Commercial Finance, Payroll Billing, or Revenue Assurance.
Experience in Facility Management, Security Services, Staffing, Workforce Management, or Allied Services preferred.
Skills Required
Strong understanding of payroll accounting, workforce costing, and manpower billing models.
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and profitability reporting.
Knowledge of PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity, and labor law compliance.
Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, Financial Modeling).
Experience with ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Workday, etc.) and Power BI.
Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and business partnering capabilities.
Key Success Measures
Accuracy and timeliness of payroll reporting, forecasting, and client billing.
Improvement in payroll cost visibility and forecast accuracy.
Reduction in billing exceptions and revenue leakage.
Enhanced contract profitability and labor cost optimization.
