Job Purpose The EMR Adoption Specialist is responsible for driving successful adoption and effective utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system across clinical and administrative teams. The role focuses on user engagement, workflow optimization, training, change management, and continuous improvement to ensure that the EMR delivers measurable improvements in clinical efficiency, patient safety, data quality, and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead EMR adoption initiatives across hospitals, clinics, departments, and user groups.
Assess current workflows and identify opportunities to improve EMR utilization and efficiency.
Develop and execute EMR adoption and change-management plans.
Conduct training, demonstrations, workshops, and onboarding sessions for clinicians, nurses, administrative staff, and other users.
Develop user guides, quick-reference materials, FAQs, and training content.
Act as a bridge between clinical teams, IT, EMR vendors, and leadership.
Monitor EMR usage, identify adoption barriers, and implement corrective actions.
Gather user feedback and translate business and clinical requirements into actionable system improvements.
Support configuration, testing, upgrades, and rollout of new EMR features and workflows.
Identify workflow issues, usability challenges, and resistance to adoption and develop appropriate interventions.
Establish and support super-user/champion networks within departments.
Track adoption metrics and prepare regular reports for management.
Support data-quality initiatives, including completeness, accuracy, and appropriate documentation.
Ensure EMR processes align with organizational policies, clinical workflows, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Participate in incident management, root-cause analysis, and resolution of recurring EMR issues.
Support change communications and stakeholder engagement throughout EMR implementation and optimization projects.
Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and improved clinical efficiency.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Nursing, Medicine, or a related field.
37 years of experience in healthcare IT, EMR implementation, clinical informatics, digital health, or change management.
Experience working with an EMR/EHR platform and healthcare workflows.
Experience in user training, stakeholder engagement, or technology adoption.
Strong understanding of clinical and/or hospital operational processes.
Project management or change-management experience is desirable.
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and healthcare workflows.
Ability to analyze workflows and identify process improvements.
Strong training and presentation skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to interpret usage and adoption data.
Familiarity with healthcare interoperability concepts such as HL7 and FHIR is an advantage.
Knowledge of healthcare data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and reporting tools.
Preferred Experience
Experience implementing or optimizing EMR systems in hospitals or multi-site healthcare organizations.
Experience with major EMR platforms such as Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, or similar systems.
Clinical background combined with healthcare IT experience is highly desirable.
Experience leading EMR super-user or clinical champion programs.
Experience with digital transformation and organizational change initiatives.
