Job purpose The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for conducting diagnostic tests for tuberculosis (TB) using advanced technologies in Mobile Medical Units (MMU) across five districts in Uttarakhand. The role will involve traveling to designated regions, collecting samples, performing tests, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the state's goal of tuberculosis elimination.

Duties and responsibilities

 Conduct various diagnostic tests for tuberculosis using NAAT technology (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) in Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) across five districts in Uttarakhand.

 Collect, label, and process patient samples, ensuring proper handling and storage conditions as per standard protocols.

 Ensure all laboratory tests are performed in alignment with Government of India and WHO guidelines for tuberculosis diagnosis.

 Maintain detailed and accurate records of laboratory test results, ensuring timely data entry in the Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS) and reporting via the NIKSHAY portal.

 Coordinate with the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) and other field staff to ensure seamless testing operations and adherence to district-level supervision.

 Perform regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring high-quality testing with minimal downtime.

 Manage consumable stock levels and ensure the availability of essential reagents, maintaining a “zero stock-out” situation.





 Ensure the secure and compliant disposal of biohazardous waste as per Biomedical Waste (BMW) guidelines.

 Support IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities, educating the population about tuberculosis and promoting test compliance.

 Assist with patient follow-up for treatment adherence, particularly among high-risk populations such as close contacts, migrant workers, slum dwellers, and dropouts.

 Ensure all tests and data reporting comply with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) standards and guidelines. Authorities

 Operate advanced diagnostic technologies such as NAAT for TB diagnosis.

 Perform laboratory functions including clinical chemistry, ensuring all tests are compliant with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP). Qualifications / Certifications

Qualification: DMLT/BMLT, registered with Uttarakhand State Council.

Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in laboratory diagnostics, specifically in TB testing and NAAT technology preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in operating lab equipment and basic software for data entry; knowledge of Dry Chemistry Machines preferred.

Working conditions

Should be open to work in rotational shifts as per the project when required

Should be open to travel for executing the job responsibilities of conducting field training

Technical / Physical requirements

Job location: Dehradun, US Nagar, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri (Districts in Uttarakhand).

Timings: 8 hours per day

Workdays: 6 days in a week

Required Languages

 Able to Speak, Read and Write in English, Hindi and Regional language
