Role & responsibilities
- Leads engagement planning by identifying key valuation issues, scope, and methodology for business valuation, damages, and forensic accounting mandates
- Collects, reviews, and independently analyzes financial statements, general ledgers, tax filings, budgets, forecasts, and supporting documents to assess business performance and support valuation conclusions
- Applies valuation approaches (income, market, and asset-based) and prepares supporting schedules, including normalization adjustments, maintainable earnings/cash flow, working capital, and capitalization/discount rate inputs
- Estimates the fair market value of businesses and/or related assets for purposes including matrimonial litigation, shareholder disputes, transactions, and tax/estate-related matters
- Prepares financial analyses, models, and graphs to support calculations, including sensitivity analysis and reasonableness checks
- Drafts valuation reports, expert opinions, and supporting exhibits for litigation and advisory engagements
- Conducts industry, market, and company-specific research to support valuation conclusions
- Assists in preparing client presentations and deliverables
- Collaborates with senior team members, legal counsel, and other experts on multiple concurrent engagements
Preferred candidate profile
- CA/CFA, Master's degree in Finance, or related field
- 0-3 years of experience in valuation, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or related field (Analyst level); 2-5 years for Associate level
- Solid proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Working knowledge of valuation methodologies (DCF, market approach, income approach)
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
