AI Conversational Voice Engineer (25 Years Experience)

The Role

Were looking for a mid-level AI Engineer to build and improve the intelligence layer of our AI agents from conversation design and reasoning to voice quality and knowledge retrieval.

Youll work closely with product and engineering to create amazing agent experiences.

What Youll Do

Design and build LLM-driven conversation flows for AI agents, including prompt engineering, tool-use logic, and multi-turn context handling

Build and maintain retrieval systems (RAG) so agents can pull accurate, relevant information from a knowledge base

Integrate AI agents with external tools and services to let them take real actions

(bookings, lookups, updates, etc.)

Improve voice AI quality natural-sounding speech, correct pacing/prosody, and smooth voice interaction flows

Diagnose and fix issues in production agent behavior hallucinations, broken logic,

latency, and conversational dead-ends

Instrument and analyze agent performance and iterate based on data

Collaborate with product to translate specs into working, reliable systems

Write clear technical documentation for tickets, architecture decisions, and runbooks

Must-Have Skills

25 years of experience building production software, with at least 2+ years working directly with LLMs/GenAI systems

Strong Python (or Node.js)



skills; comfortable owning a service end-to-end

Hands-on experience with LLM APIs prompt design, function/tool calling, context management, function/tool calling, context management.

Experience building or maintaining RAG systems (vector databases, embeddings,

retrieval tuning).

Understanding of conversational AI system design intents, state, multi-turn context,

fallback handling.

Comfortable working with APIs/webhooks and integrating third-party services

Solid grasp of evaluation how to measure whether an agent response is actually good, not just syntactically valid

Valuable understanding of ML and DL concepts with hands-on experience working with

ML/DL models.

Strongly Preferred

Experience with voice AI text-to-speech/speech-to-text pipelines, audio quality tuning

Experience with async/event-driven architectures (queues, webhooks, background jobs)

Familiarity with agile, ticket-driven workflows (Jira or similar)

Nice-to-Have

Exposure to analytics or personalization systems

E-commerce or D2C domain exposure

Prior experience where you owned a feature from spec to production solo
