About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced E-Commerce Accountant to independently manage the accounting, reconciliation, taxation, settlements, and financial reporting related to our e-commerce business.
The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts and ensuring that transactions across Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, D2C website, payment gateways, banks, and other online channels are properly reconciled and accounted for.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of e-commerce accounting, GST, TDS/TCS, marketplace settlements, inventory accounting, and bank reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities1. E-Commerce Sales Accounting
- Record and reconcile sales from Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, D2C website and other online marketplaces.
- Maintain order-level and settlement-level reconciliation.
- Reconcile gross sales, cancellations, returns, refunds, discounts and credit notes.
- Ensure correct accounting of GST on e-commerce sales.
- Reconcile sales as per marketplace reports with books of accounts and GST records.
1. Marketplace Settlement Reconciliation
- Download and analyse regular settlement reports from all marketplaces.
- Reconcile marketplace receivables with actual bank settlements.
- Identify and account for:
- Marketplace commissions
- Closing/fixed fees
- Shipping and fulfilment charges
- Payment gateway charges
- Advertising charges
- Return charges
- Refunds
- Penalties/adjustments
- TCS/TDS and other deductions
- Identify unreconciled amounts and follow up with the respective marketplace until resolution.
1. Bank Reconciliation
- Maintain daily/weekly bank reconciliation.
- Match all marketplace and payment gateway settlements with bank credits.
- Identify unidentified receipts, deductions and outstanding settlements.
- Ensure there are no unexplained differences between bank,
marketplace reports and books.
1. GST & Taxation
- Maintain accurate GST records for e-commerce transactions.
- Reconcile sales with GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B.
- Reconcile purchase/input tax credit with GSTR-2B.
- Track and reconcile TCS/TDS credits appearing in the relevant tax statements.
- Coordinate with the tax consultant/CA for timely filing and compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation for sales returns, credit notes and GST adjustments.
1. Inventory & COGS Accounting
- Reconcile e-commerce sales quantities with inventory records.
- Track stock movement across warehouses/locations and online channels.
- Assist in calculating Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Reconcile opening stock, purchases/production, sales, returns, damages and closing stock.
- Identify inventory discrepancies and coordinate with operations/warehouse teams.
1. Accounts Payable & Expenses
- Record and verify e-commerce-related expenses.
- Maintain vendor ledgers and payment schedules.
- Account for marketplace, logistics, advertising, packaging, warehousing, technology and other operating expenses.
- Verify invoices and ensure proper GST documentation before booking expenses.
1. Monthly Closing & MIS
Prepare monthly reports covering:
- Gross sales
- Net sales
- Returns and refunds
- GST
- Marketplace commissions
- Logistics/shipping costs
- Payment gateway charges
- Advertising expenses
- Other e-commerce expenses
- COGS
- Gross profit
- Contribution margin
- Outstanding marketplace receivables
- Settlement discrepancies
- Inventory position
Provide management with a transparent monthly e-commerce profitability report.
Reconciliation Responsibilities The candidate must ensure reconciliation between:
Marketplace Orders → Marketplace Settlement Reports → Accounting Software → GST Returns → TDS/TCS → Bank Statements → Inventory
Any mismatch should be identified, investigated and resolved promptly.
Software & Tools The candidate should be comfortable working with:
- Tally Prime / relevant accounting software
- Advanced MS Excel / Google Sheets
- Amazon Seller Central
- Flipkart Seller Hub
- Myntra Partner Portal
- Shopify / D2C website backend
- Payment gateway dashboards
- GST Portal
- Income Tax / TDS portals
Knowledge of Excel Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data reconciliation and large transaction datasets is essential. Required Skills & Qualifications
- B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter preferred.
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Prior experience in e-commerce accounting is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Indian GST and TDS/TCS.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical abilities.
- Good understanding of marketplace settlement statements.
- Ability to independently identify accounting discrepancies.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked with:
- D2C brands
- Amazon/Flipkart/Myntra sellers
- Apparel or consumer brands
- E-commerce accounting firms
- Marketplace reconciliation
- Multi-channel inventory accounting
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) The candidate will be evaluated on:
- Timely completion of monthly accounts.
- Accuracy of marketplace reconciliation.
- Accuracy of GST and tax reconciliations.
- Reduction in unreconciled marketplace balances.
- Timely identification of settlement/payment discrepancies.
- Accuracy of inventory and COGS reporting.
- Timely submission of monthly MIS.
- Maintenance of complete and audit-ready documentation.
Pay: ₹8,593.90 - ₹18,000.00 per month
