Role Description The Academic Counselor is a full-time, in office role based in Gurugram, focused on guiding prospective students through their overseas education journey. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting personalized counseling sessions, understanding academic backgrounds and career goals, and recommending suitable countries, programs, and institutions.

The Academic

Counselor will explain admission requirements, application timelines, and documentation, and coordinate closely with admissions and visa teams to ensure a smooth process. The role involves maintaining accurate student records, following up with leads, participating in education fairs or information sessions, and providing clear, unbiased information about study options, scholarships, and financial planning.



The counselor will also support students with test preparation recommendations and SOP guidance while representing CIES’s values of integrity, transparency, and learner-centric service.

Qualifications

- Strong counseling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand learner aspirations, guide decision-making, and provide clear, empathetic support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confident spoken and written English and the ability to present information in a clear, structured manner.
- Knowledge of overseas education systems and admission processes for key destinations (e.g., Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, Europe, Middle East) and familiarity with student visa procedures.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including managing multiple applications, maintaining detailed records, and following up with prospective and enrolled students.
- Customer-service orientation and relationship-building skills, with a focus on responsiveness, professionalism, and maintaining long-term learner trust.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and CRM or database tools to track inquiries, leads, and application status.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; a background in education, counseling, psychology, or related fields is an advantage.
- Prior experience in academic counseling, overseas education consulting, or higher education admissions is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates.
- Ability to work on-site in Gurugram, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and occasionally support events or sessions outside standard hours
