Job Description
Role Data Engineer
Required Technical Skill Set Aspen Tech Inmation

Must-Have 1. Academic or professional background in Industrial Control Systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), OPC technologies, SCADA systems, and PLCs.
2. Proven experience in DCS deployment projects covering design, engineering, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and plant start-up activities, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
3. Strong understanding of Operational Technology (OT) systems such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols, including OPC DA and OPC UA, with experience integrating OT data into enterprise IT environments.
4. Familiarity with industrial historian technologies, time-series data management systems, and operational data storage architectures.
5. Experience collaborating with Industrial Data Fabric/Data Platform teams and control system vendors to onboard new OT data sources, configure data models, and ensure seamless integration across Level 3 and Level 4 architectures.
6. Strong experience in Data Engineering with exposure to Oil & Gas operations, including Exploration & Production (E&P;) and/or Refining & Chemicals.
7. Ability to understand business objectives and translate operational, technical, and data requirements into effective digital solutions.
8. Data Engineer, with hands-on exposure to industrial data platforms, architectures, and data integration frameworks.
9. Ability to work closely with site operations, maintenance teams, engineering disciplines, and business users to identify relevant data sources and ensure reliable data integration and accessibility.
10. Experience in industrial data modeling, contextualization, metadata management, and ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance across OT and IT environments.
11. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams,



including operations, engineering, automation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation functions.
Positive-to-Have 1. Knowledge of the Microsoft technology stacks (including Azure, M365, Power Platform, etc.)
2. Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging digital information and technology trends
3. Certification in data engineering or related fields
4. Language: English and French (optional)

SN Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role
1 Collaborate with the Operations Technologies Subject Matter Expert (OT SME) to define connectivity solutions between the Inmation Industrial Data Fabric and OT systems (such as DCS and PLC). This includes defining scopes of work and critically assessing solutions proposed by OT system vendors.
2 Prepare technical documentation to support the Management of Change (MOC) and Request for Modifications (RFM) processes on site, clearly describing the solutions to be deployed for OT data access.
3 Work with the Inmation Use Cases Product Owner to identify required data for use cases and determine how to integrate this data into the Inmation Industrial Data Fabric, including developing technical action plans in collaboration with the OT SME.
4 Ensure that all data required for use cases developed within the Inmation Industrial Data Fabric is properly ingested and securely stored.
5 Establish interfaces to import data from additional sources as needed for specific use cases.
6 Monitor the import, export, and consumption of data within the Inmation Industrial Data Fabric.
7 Define and implement processes to monitor and maintain data source connections, ensuring their reliability over time.
