Job Description:

Role Overview

Responsible for providing SAP Production Planning (PP) application support in an AMS environment. The role involves resolving production-related incidents, supporting business users, analyzing system issues, monitoring production processes, and implementing approved changes and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide L1/L2/L3 support for SAP PP business processes depending on the support model.

Analyze and resolve incidents related to MRP, production orders, BOMs, routings, work centers, production versions, and capacity planning.

Support the complete Plan-to-Produce (P2P) process.

Troubleshoot issues related to MRP planning runs, planned orders, and conversion of planned orders to production orders.

Support production order creation, release, confirmation, goods issue, and goods receipt.

Analyze issues related to BOMs, routings, work centers, production versions, and master data.

Monitor and troubleshoot MRP exceptions and planning results.

Support integration between SAP PP and MM, SD, QM, CO, and WM/EWM.

Investigate interface and integration issues and coordinate with technical teams when required.

Handle incidents and service requests through tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Solution Manager.

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring production issues.

Prepare functional specifications for required enhancements and coordinate with ABAP/technical teams.

Perform functional testing, regression testing, and support UAT.

Support transport/change management activities across development, quality, and production systems.





Prepare and maintain functional documentation, work instructions, and knowledge-base articles.

Participate in SLA-based incident management, prioritization, and escalation.

Coordinate with business users, key users, technical teams, and other functional consultants.

Participate in month-end/year-end production support activities when required.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.

Strong knowledge of SAP PP functional processes.

Hands-on experience in SAP PP AMS/Application Support.

Positive understanding of MRP and production order processes.

Knowledge of PP master data such as BOM, routing, work center, and production version.

Understanding of integration with SAP MM, QM, CO, SD, and WM/EWM.

Experience with incident and change management processes.

Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with business users and technical teams.

Preferred Skills

SAP S/4HANA PP experience.

Knowledge of Fiori apps related to production planning.

Experience with SAP Solution Manager or equivalent ITSM tools.

Exposure to SAP QM integration.

Exposure to SAP APO/PP-DS is an advantage.

Experience with global AMS/support projects.

Typical Support Ticket Examples
