Role Description The AP Chemistry Mentor is a part-time, remote role focused on supporting high school students in mastering AP Chemistry concepts and exam skills. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting online tutoring sessions, explaining complex chemical principles in clear and accessible ways, and guiding students through problem-solving, lab-related concepts, and exam-style questions. The mentor will assess student understanding, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to individual learning styles and goals. Additional tasks may include creating practice materials,



coordinating with parents or guardians on progress updates, and staying current with AP Chemistry curriculum and examination requirements.
Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of AP Chemistry topics, including stoichiometry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, and molecular structure.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles.
- Experience with online teaching or tutoring platforms and comfort using digital tools for virtual instruction.
- Excellent communication, patience, and mentoring skills, with a focus on encouraging student confidence and independent thinking.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field; prior experience teaching or tutoring AP-level science is preferred.
- Reliable internet connection, appropriate home workspace, and ability to schedule sessions flexibly, including evenings or weekends as needed.
