Job Summary

/n

BCI is seeking a skilled contract Python Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and data pipelines. **Please note: This will be a 6-12 month contract.

/n

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in Python, integrating data from multiple sources, and developing reliable, high-performance backend services that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives. This role requires expertise in Python, cloud technologies, databases, API development, and modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

/n

/n

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.

/n

- Develop backend services and APIs using Python-based frameworks.

/n

- Integrate data from databases, third-party APIs, cloud storage, and enterprise applications.

/n

- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures, and implement solutions to improve reliability.

/n

- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and automated testing processes.

/n

- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.

/n

- Optimize database queries and data models for efficient processing and retrieval.

/n

- Deploy and maintain applications and pipelines in cloud environments.

/n

- Create technical documentation,



maintain coding standards, and best practices.

/n

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

/n

Required Qualifications

/n

/n

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field.

/n

- A minimum of 5 years + of experience in Python backend development.

/n

- Strong proficiency in hands on development with Python and object-oriented programming.

/n

- Bash/Shell Scripting

/n

- Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.

/n

- Experience with data processing libraries such as Pandas and Num Py.

/n

- RESTful API development using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

/n

- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.

/n

- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

/n

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

/n

Preferred Qualifications

/n

/n

- Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

/n

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (Preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

/n

- Knowledge of data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, Big Query, or Redshift.

/n

- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

/n

- Familiarity with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.

/n

- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.

/n

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
