GCP Data Engineer (BigQuery) — Chennai
Location: Chennai (Full-Time, On-Site)
Experience: 7–12 Years

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced GCP Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in BigQuery to join our team in Chennai on a full time, on-site basis. The ideal candidate will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and warehousing solutions on Google Cloud Platform, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines on GCP
Build and optimize data models and queries in BigQuery for performance and cost efficiency
Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
Implement data ingestion frameworks using Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer (Airflow)
Develop and manage event-driven workflows using Cloud Functions
Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across pipelines
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing data infrastructure
Implement best practices for security, scalability, and performance on GCP
Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
7–12 years of overall experience in Data Engineering
Strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Hands-on expertise in:
BigQuery
Cloud Composer (Airflow)
Dataflow
Dataproc
Pub/Sub
Cloud Storage
Cloud Functions
Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python/Java/Scala)
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL/ELT design
Experience working with large-scale datasets and performance tuning in BigQuery
Good understanding of data governance, security, and compliance practices
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Notice Period: Immediate joiners to 30 days preferred
