Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Techno Underwriting role based in Ahmedabad.

The Techno

Underwriter will assess insurance proposals using both technical and financial parameters, analyze risks across various general insurance products, and recommend appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and premiums. The role includes interpreting data from internal systems, collaborating with sales and distribution teams to structure solutions, and ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory norms.

Underwriter will work closely with product, actuarial, and operations teams to support new product initiatives, refine underwriting frameworks, and contribute to process improvements. The role also involves preparing underwriting reports, maintaining documentation, and participating in training or knowledge-sharing sessions to strengthen risk evaluation practices.

Qualifications

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data, evaluate risk, and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Knowledge of general insurance products and concepts, including risk assessment, pricing principles, policy wordings, and regulatory requirements.
- Comfort with technology, including working on cloud-based systems, data tools, and digital platforms used for underwriting and policy administration.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams such as sales, product, actuarial, and operations.
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills to maintain accurate underwriting records and ensure process compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, insurance, statistics, or a related discipline; professional insurance certifications (e.g., III, ACII) are an advantage.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace, manage multiple cases, and adapt to evolving underwriting guidelines and digital tools.
