We are looking for a Mid-Level Python Django Developer who can contribute to building scalable, secure, high-performance backend systems and APIs that support our growing dairy technology platform.

/n

ROLE OVERVIEW

/n

As a Python Django Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, testing, and maintaining backend applications and REST APIs.

/n

You will work extensively with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, AWS, Docker, Linux, and monitoring/observability tools.

/n

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on production systems, debugging real-world problems, optimizing database queries, designing APIs, and taking ownership of backend modules from development through deployment.

/n

You will work closely with frontend developers, mobile developers, QA engineers, Dev Ops, and product teams.

/n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

/n

Backend Python Development

/n

/n

- Design and develop scalable backend applications using Python and Django.

/n

- Build modular, maintainable, and reusable Django applications.

/n

- Develop business logic, workflows, authentication, authorization, and data-processing services.

/n

- Build and maintain RESTful APIs using Django REST Framework (DRF).

/n

- Work with API versioning, pagination, filtering, validation, throttling, and error handling.

/n

- Integrate third-party APIs and external services.

/n

- Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-documented code.

/n

/n

Database & PostgreSQL

/n

/n

- Design and maintain relational database schemas using PostgreSQL.

/n

- Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance.

/n

- Work extensively with Django ORM.

/n

- Understand: Indexing, Query planning, Transactions, Constraints, Joins, Aggregations, Views

/n

- Identify and resolve slow queries and database bottlenecks.

/n

- Use tools such as EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE for query optimization.

/n

- Handle database migrations safely in production environments.

/n

/n

Background Processing & Caching

/n

/n

- Implement asynchronous/background jobs using Celery or equivalent task-processing systems.

/n

- Work with Redis for caching, task queues, rate limiting, or temporary data.

/n

- Design reliable retry, timeout,



and failure-handling mechanisms for background jobs.

/n

- Optimize application performance using appropriate caching strategies.

/n

/n

AWS & Cloud Infrastructure

/n

/n

- Work with AWS services such as: EC2, RDS / PostgreSQL, S3, Lambda, Cloud Watch, IAM, VPC, Cloud Front / Load Balancer where applicable

/n

- Deploying and maintaining backend applications.

/n

- Managing application configuration and environment variables.

/n

- Understanding AWS security and IAM principles.

/n

- Monitoring application and infrastructure performance.

/n

- Supporting scalable and highly available deployments

/n

/n

Linux & Production Systems

/n

/n

- Strong working knowledge of Linux environments.

/n

- Deploy and manage applications using: systemd, Nginx, Gunicorn / Uvicorn, Shell scripting

/n

- Troubleshoot CPU, memory, disk, networking, process, and application-level issues.

/n

- Analyze production logs and diagnose service failures.

/n

/n

Monitoring & Observability

/n

/n

- Implement application and infrastructure monitoring.

/n

- Work with: Prometheus, Grafana, AWS Cloud Watch, Application logs

/n

- Understand key observability concepts: Metrics, Logs, Traces, Alerts, Health checks

/n

- Monitor API response time, error rates, database performance, background jobs, and system resources.

/n

- Participate in production incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

/n

/n

Testing & Code Quality

/n

/n

- Write unit, integration, and API tests using pytest / Django testing frameworks.

/n

- Use mocking and fixtures appropriately.

/n

- Maintain good test coverage for critical business logic.

/n

- Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

/n

- Use automated linting and formatting tools such as: Ruff, Black, isort, mypy / Pyright where applicable

/n

/n

Collaboration & Product Development

/n

/n

- Work closely with frontend, mobile, QA, Dev Ops, and product teams.

/n

- Participate in technical discussions and architecture decisions.

/n

- Convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

/n

- Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root-cause analysis.

/n

- Take ownership of assigned modules and deliver them within agreed timelines.

/n





- Contribute to technical documentation and engineering best practices.

/n

**Required Skills & Qualifications - Must Have**

/n

/n

- 3–5 years of qualified experience in Python backend development.

/n

- Strong hands-on experience with Python 3.x.

/n

- Strong experience with Django.

/n

- Experience with Django REST Framework (DRF).

/n

- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL.

/n

- Experience with Django ORM and database optimization.

/n

- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

/n

- Understanding of Redis and background task processing.

/n

- Experience with Celery or a similar task queue.

/n

- Good understanding of Git and Git workflows.

/n

- Experience working with Linux.

/n

- Experience deploying applications on AWS.

/n

- Understanding of Docker and containerized applications.

/n

- Experience with production debugging and performance optimization.

/n

- Good understanding of software development lifecycle and code-review practices
