About the Role
n
Office Beacon is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting and month-end activities for a U.S.-based nonprofit organization.
n
The role is well suited to a bookkeeping professional with hands-on QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience and a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, expense reimbursements, financial recordkeeping, and audit preparation.
n
The successful candidate will work independently, maintain accurate financial records, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and consistently meet recurring accounting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
n
Bookkeeping & Accounting Operations
n
n
- Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities.
n
- Process and record expense reimbursements.
n
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in QuickBooks Online.
n
- Review transactions and account balances for accuracy and completeness.
n
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
n
n
Reconciliations & Month-End
n
n
- Perform bank, account, and expense reconciliations.
n
- Support month-end reconciliation and closing activities.
n
- Investigate discrepancies and follow up on outstanding items.
n
- Ensure accounting records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
n
n
Audit & Compliance Support
n
n
- Prepare and organize financial documentation for audit activities.
n
- Assist with audit preparation, including supporting schedules and requested documentation.
n
- Support compliance-related accounting activities.
n
- Assist with accounting requirements applicable to California nonprofit organizations and related state tax matters.
n
n
Communication & Coordination
n
n
- Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding accounting questions and follow-ups.
n
- Track recurring accounting tasks and deadlines.
n
- Work independently while escalating issues that require additional review or clarification.
n
n
Required Qualifications
n
n
- Previous professional experience as a Bookkeeper or Accounting professional.
n
- Hands-on professional experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
n
- Experience supporting U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
n
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and expense reimbursements.
n
- Experience supporting month-end accounting and reconciliation activities.
n
- Experience preparing or organizing documentation for audits.
n
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial recordkeeping.
n
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
n
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
n
- Ability to work independently and manage recurring accounting responsibilities and deadlines.
n
- Availability to work approximately 10:00 AM–2:00 PM Pacific Time.

Preferred Qualifications
n
n
- Experience with California nonprofit accounting.
n
- Familiarity with California state tax and nonprofit compliance requirements.
n
- Experience with nonprofit financial reporting.
n
- Experience supporting external or independent audits.
n
- Knowledge of accounting controls and financial process documentation.
n

Who This Role Is For
n
This position is best suited for a bookkeeper who has hands-on QBO experience and has worked with U.S. nonprofit accounting, rather than a general bookkeeping skilled whose experience is limited to domestic Indian accounting.
