JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Media Relations Director, the Multimedia Production Manager develops, produces, and manages multimedia content for the City’s social media platforms, website, and Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) channel.
This position is responsible for video production and editing, photography, writing, live and recorded productions, and multimedia storytelling that informs residents about City programs, services, projects, meetings, and community events.
The Multimedia Production Manager coordinates production assignments, schedules, and crew activities; provides technical guidance; operates and troubleshoots audiovisual equipment; and works collaboratively with City departments to produce accurate, timely, and engaging content in accordance with City communication standards and established approval procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in broadcasting, film or video production, digital media, mass communication or a closely related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in multimedia production, broadcasting or a closely related field, including videography, photography, editing and live production.
Experience coordinating production projects, schedules and crew assignments. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may be considered in accordance with City policy.
Experience with municipal or PEG channel programming is preferred.
Bilingual
English/Spanish communication skills are preferred. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
- Applicant must take and pass a drug, physical, and pre-placement screenings administered by the City of Mission doctor at the City’s expense.
- Applicant must have a current valid class “C” driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety with no more than two (2) moving traffic violations within the past two (2) years.
- Applicant must be able to travel to City facilities and event locations and safely operate a City vehicle when authorized.
- Applicant must be available for evening, weekend, holiday and emergency assignments as needed.

SKILL ABILITY REQUIREMENT
- Strong practical knowledge of photography, videography, composition, lighting, audio recording and editing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom; working knowledge of After Effects and Audition or comparable production software.
- Strong storytelling, research, interviewing and writing skills, with attention to accuracy and sound editorial judgment.
- Working knowledge of multi-camera production, audio and video signal flow, streaming, channel automation and playback systems.
- Ability to diagnose production equipment and connection problems and communicate technical instructions clearly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently, accept feedback and revisions, and exercise discretion with confidential or sensitive information.
- Ability to work professionally with elected officials, City staff, community partners and the public, including during emergencies and time-sensitive assignments.
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment

- Record and edit video for social media, the City website and the PEG channel, including news packages, features, public service announcements and promotional content.
- Photograph City programs, meetings, ceremonies and community events; select and edit images for publication.
- Research topics, verify facts, conduct interviews and write scripts, stories and supporting social media or website copy.
- Plan shoots and coordinate locations, schedules and production needs with City departments based on priorities established by the Media Relations Director.
- Create titles, lower thirds, motion graphics, voice-overs and captions; adapt content for the intended platform and audience.
- Review completed content for accuracy, technical quality, spelling and accessibility, and publish or schedule it after required approval.
- Write, produce and report information; conduct interviews; assign video shoots to staff; prepare weekly programming schedule; verify and manage information and video aired; and maintain video and production equipment.
- Assist with social media and digital media messaging, field production and content creation
- Cover city council meetings and workshops
- Assist city departments in special citywide video projects and events.
- Direct live and recorded multi-camera productions, coordinating cameras, audio, graphics, switching and streaming; monitor output and confirm recordings are captured.
- Set up, test, operate and break down cameras, microphones, lighting, teleprompters, intercoms and audiovisual equipment for field and studio productions.
- Prepare approved programs for PEG playback, maintain program schedules and playlists, and monitor channel output for technical quality and continuity.
- Troubleshoot video, audio, streaming and playback problems; use backup options when practical and coordinate system support or repairs with IT and authorized vendors.
- Coordinate production assignments, provide technical guidance and ensure projects meet department standards and deadlines.
- Maintain organized project files, footage, photographs and completed programs; follow established backup, archive and records-retention procedures.
- Maintain production equipment inventories, inspect equipment, perform routine care and recommend repairs, replacements or upgrades to the Media Relations Director.
- Support emergency communications by producing verified, approved updates under the direction of the Media Relations Director.
- Follow City safety, branding, confidentiality, copyright and release requirements. Coordinate official statements, sensitive information and media responses through the Media Relations Director or authorized City leadership for approval.
- Attend and provide coverage of city functions and events.
- Work weekends and after hours to provide coverage of community events and city meetings I. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Attend City functions, meetings and community events when requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. VII. EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS: General office and multimedia equipment/materials to include but not limited to the following:
- Desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, editing software and digital storage systems.
- Professional cameras, lenses, tripods, stabilizers, microphones, audio recorders and lighting equipment.
- Video switchers, audio mixers, encoders, monitors, recorders, teleprompters, intercoms and related cables and accessories.
- PEG channel playback and automation systems, streaming software, printers, scanners, City vehicles
- Personnel Policy Manual WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in offices, studios, control rooms, public meeting spaces and outdoor event and field locations. Assignments may involve weather, crowds, noise, traffic, uneven surfaces and changing conditions.
