Role Description

Role Summary We are looking for a Core Network domain expert who also brings hands-on data engineering skills to support network data pipelines, analytics, and reporting. This role is primarily suited for a telecom Core Network specialist who can extend their expertise into data engineering using Python, SQL, PySpark, Snowflake, and Databricks.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as the subject-matter expert on Core Network architecture, protocols, and data sources, guiding design decisions on what network data to capture, transform, and expose for analytics.

- Work closely with network engineering, OSS/BSS, and NOC teams to interpret call flows, signaling traces, and network KPIs, and translate that domain knowledge into requirements for data pipelines.

- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of network performance issues using data-driven insights (PM counters, FM alarms, CDRs/xDRs, signaling data).

- Build and maintain data pipelines (Python, SQL) to ingest and process network data into Snowflake/Databricks for downstream analytics and reporting.

- Document network data flows, schemas, and domain-specific business rules for data pipelines.

- Ensure data handling complies with telecom data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills – Core Network Domain

- Deep expertise in telecom Core Network architecture: 2G/3G/4G/5G, EPC, 5GC (AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF), IMS.

- Solid knowledge of network protocols and interfaces: Diameter, SS7, SIP, GTP, RADIUS.





- Hands-on experience with network data types: CDRs/xDRs, PM (performance management) counters, FM (fault management) alarms, signaling traces.

- Working knowledge of OSS/BSS systems, network probes, or vendor equipment (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, or similar).

- Strong understanding of network KPIs (throughput, latency, call drop rate, handover success rate) and their underlying data sources.

- Experience supporting network operations, performance monitoring, or capacity planning functions.

Required Skills – Data Engineering

- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

- Experience with Snowflake for data warehousing, including schema design and query optimization.

- Experience with Databricks for building and orchestrating data pipelines and notebooks.

- Basic understanding of data modeling and data quality principles as applied to network datasets. Nice to Have

- Exposure to ML-driven use cases such as anomaly detection or predictive maintenance in network operations.

- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow) or cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Experience Level: 6–10 years overall, with 5+ years in telecom Core Network domain and 2+ years applying data engineering tools (Python, SQL, PySpark, Snowflake, Databricks) in a network context.
