We are seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer to lead the CAD development and prototyping of a palm-sized, non-electrical, body aligned, automatic midstream urine collection device. You will be responsible for turning ergonomic concepts into production-ready, injection-molded designs using SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software).
This role begins with a 3-month probation period focused on initial prototyping, ergonomic refining, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for plastic injection molding.
Key Responsibilities
Ergonomic & 3D CAD Design: Model complex, organic, body-conforming surfaces and palm-sized geometry using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
Prototyping & Iteration: Build rapid prototypes (3D printing, silicone tooling) to test seal integrity, liquid flow dynamics, human factors, and usability.
Design for Injection Molding (DFM): Apply proper draft angles, wall thickness uniformity, rib structures, parting lines, and gate placement to ensure cost-effective molding.
Testing & Refinement: Conduct physical fit, seal, and leak-proofing evaluations, making iterative CAD adjustments based on user testing feedback.
Tooling & Manufacturer Liaison: Prepare detailed 2D production drawings, step files,
and technical specifications for injection molding vendors and toolmakers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
CAD Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Rhino (surface modeling skills preferred for ergonomic curves).
Injection Molding Knowledge: Hands-on experience designing rigid or adaptable thermoplastic/silicone parts for mass production.
Prototyping: Experience using SLA/FDM 3D printers and post-processing methods to evaluate physical models.
Ergonomics & Human Factors: Familiarity with human-centered design, specifically for personal health, medical, or anatomical wellness devices.
Materials Understanding: Knowledge of biocompatible, medical-grade plastics and elastomers (e.g., TPE, TPU, polypropylene).
Probation Period Milestones (First 90 Days)
Month 1: Review existing concepts, deliver refined 3D surface models in SolidWorks, and generate 3D-printed functional prototypes.
Month 2: Execute ergonomic and leak-proofing test iterations based on prototype feedback.
Month 3: Finalize DFM-ready CAD files, generate production engineering drawings, and initiate toolmaker quotes.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
