Job Location: Ahmedabad A Mechanical Design Draughtsman in Capital Equipment Manufacturing is responsible for converting engineering concepts, calculations, layouts, and specifications into accurate manufacturing drawings and technical documentation for large industrial machines and equipment.

Typical roles and responsibilities include:

· Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, CATIA, or similar software.

· Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, assembly drawings, sub-assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and detailed component drawings.

· Convert design-engineer concepts, calculations,



sketches, and specifications into production-ready drawings.

· Prepare drawings for machine frames, base structures, fabricated assemblies, sheet-metal parts, shafts, housings, brackets, supports, guards, platforms, tanks, ducts, piping supports, and mechanical assemblies.

· Create accurate sectional views, detail views, exploded views, machining drawings, and installation layouts.

· Apply correct dimensions, tolerances, fits, GD&T;, surface-finish symbols, welding symbols, and machining requirements.

· Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), part lists, material specifications, and component schedules.

· Select and incorporate standard components such as bearings, fasteners, couplings, gearboxes, motors, seals, springs, chains, belts, linear guides, and purchased parts according to engineering instructions.

· Check interference, fitment, clearances, assembly sequence, maintenance accessibility, and serviceability using 3D models.

· Prepare fabrication and welding drawings with plate thicknesses, structural sections, weld sizes, bend details, hole locations, and machining allowances.

· Prepare sheet-metal development drawings, bend details, laser/plasma cutting profiles,



and nesting information where required.

· Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision control, change history, and document release procedures.

· Modify drawings based on Engineering Change Requests/Notices (ECR/ECN) and approved design changes.

· Coordinate with design engineering, production, fabrication, machining, assembly, quality, procurement, and project teams.

· Support the shop floor in resolving drawing discrepancies, dimensional problems, interference issues, fabrication difficulties, and assembly mismatches.

· Verify that designs are suitable for manufacturing, assembly, transportation, installation, operation, and maintenance.

· Prepare customer approval drawings, installation drawings, foundation drawings, interface drawings, and as-built drawings where required.

· Review supplier drawings and ensure purchased components properly integrate with the equipment.

· Follow applicable standards such as ISO, ASME, DIN, BIS, AWS, and company engineering standards, depending on the product.

· Assist engineers with design reviews, tolerance studies, component standardization, value engineering, and cost-reduction activities.

· Maintain CAD files, drawings, BOMs, and technical records in ERP, PLM, PDM, or document-management systems.

· Ensure drawings are complete and accurate before release to procurement and manufacturing.
