Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Assistant Manager – Electrical Engineering to lead and manage the electrical engineering team. The role involves technical leadership, team building, electrical design coordination, engineering execution, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality engineering outputs.
The ideal candidate should have robust electrical engineering expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience in managing engineering teams within the power, transformer, or electrical manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the electrical engineering team.
- Build a high-performing and collaborative engineering team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team productivity.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify development opportunities.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and technical capability building.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
2. Electrical Design & Engineering
- Oversee electrical design and engineering activities for power transformers.
- Review electrical design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and customer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to engineers and resolve design-related issues.
- Review core and coil design, electrical parameters, and engineering deliverables, as applicable.
- Support design optimization, reliability, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
3. Project Execution & Coordination
- Plan and monitor engineering deliverables to meet project timelines.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design, Production, Quality, SCM, and Project Management teams.
- Ensure timely completion of electrical engineering activities.
- Resolve technical challenges and support smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and communicate critical issues to management.
4. Quality & Process Improvement
- Ensure accuracy and quality of electrical engineering deliverables.
- Drive standardization and process improvements within the department.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures, quality requirements, and engineering standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and engineering efficiency.
5. Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare regular reports on engineering progress and team performance.
- Coordinate with senior management on technical requirements and project priorities.
- Maintain proper engineering documentation and records.
- Support departmental planning, resource allocation, and operational improvements.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
- Experience in electrical design, preferably in power transformers or electrical manufacturing.
- Proven experience in team handling, mentoring, and people management.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles and engineering calculations.
- Experience with engineering drawings, technical documentation, and design reviews.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Technical Expertise
- Power transformer / electrical equipment design.
- Transformer electrical design calculations and specifications.
- Core and coil design, insulation coordination, and electrical performance.
- Knowledge of applicable IEC/IEEE standards, where relevant.
- Engineering software and technical documentation.
- Cross-functional engineering coordination.
