Company Description I’Arte Rinasce is a specialist fine art conservation and restoration studio working across two continents. The studio delivers museum-standard services to private collectors, galleries, museums, auction houses, government institutions, heritage trusts, corporate collections, universities, and cultural organizations in Auckland and India. Services include fine art conservation and restoration, condition assessments, technical reports, authentication and valuation support, preventive conservation, and collection care.

The team also provides museum and gallery consulting, collection management, technical examination, provenance research, and framing and curation advisory. Operating to the highest international ethical standards, every project is fully documented with treatment records and condition reporting, meeting expectations of museums, insurers, estate lawyers, and serious collectors.

Role Description The Art Conservator will work on-site at our Mumbai studio on a contract basis, carrying out conservation and restoration treatments on paintings, works on paper, and mixed-media artworks. Day-to-day responsibilities include examining and documenting artworks, conducting condition assessments and performing hands-on conservation interventions in line with international ethical standards. The role involves technical examination, materials and methods research, preventive conservation planning,



and advising on appropriate storage, display, and environmental controls.

Qualifications

- Formal training in art conservation or restoration (e.g., degree or diploma in conservation, fine arts with conservation specialization, or equivalent professional certification).
- Hands-on skills in conservation treatments for paintings, works on paper, and mixed-media objects, including cleaning, stabilization, structural repairs, and retouching.
- Proficiency in condition assessment, technical examination, and documentation, including photographic records and detailed treatment reports.
- Knowledge of conservation ethics, preventive conservation, and best practices for storage, transport, framing, and environmental control.
- Experience working with or for museums, galleries, heritage institutions, or private collections is highly beneficial.
- Strong research and analytical abilities, including familiarity with art materials, historical techniques, and provenance verification methods.
- Attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and the ability to work with delicate and high-value artworks safely.
- Effective communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly in written and verbal form.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary studio workplace.
