About the Role:
SNPJ is a Tier-1 OEM supplier of precision components to the 2W/3W automotive industry. We are hiring a Tool Maintenance Engineer to own the upkeep, repair, and performance of press tooling — dies, fixtures, and related tooling assets — on our stamping line.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of press tools — progressive dies, compound dies, and fixtures
Inspect tools after each production run; identify wear patterns, dimensional drift, and damage before they cause production rejections
Execute die repair, regrinding, and component replacement (punches, dies, pilots, strippers) with precision and within acceptable tolerances
Maintain tool history cards for each die — recording maintenance done, component replacements, and current condition status
Coordinate die trials after maintenance or repair; ensure first-piece approval before releasing tool to production
Manage tool room equipment — surface grinder, EDM, drill press — and ensure their operational readiness
Maintain spare punch/die inventory; flag critical spares running low to Purchase in advance
Support recent tool commissioning and first-off trials during product development
Coordinate with Production Supervisor for planned die maintenance windows to minimize downtime impact
Enforce 5S and tool storage discipline in the tool room
Required Skills:
Press tool maintenance — progressive dies, compound dies, blanking and forming tools
Die component knowledge: punches, die buttons, pilots, strippers, guide pillars, spring selection
Tool room equipment operation: surface grinder, EDM, drill press, height gauge, profile projector
Reading and interpreting 2D engineering drawings and die layouts
Ability to diagnose rejection-causing tooling issues from part defects
Basic knowledge of press tonnage requirements and die setting
Education: Diploma/B.E. (Tool & Die / Mechanical / Production)
Experience: 3–7 years in press tool maintenance, preferably in automotive component manufacturing
Other Requirements:
Must be willing to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts
Hands-on, tool room floor role — not a planning or documentation desk role
