About the role

We are looking for a QA Tester to own day-to-day quality of our iOS application. You will write and execute test cases, manage test work in Azure DevOps , and use SQL Server to set up data, check results, and prove defects. You will partner with product, iOS development, and QA to catch issues before release and keep test evidence in ADO.

This role is execution-led: you turn stories and acceptance criteria into runnable tests, run them on real devices, and back pass/fail with SQL Server evidence.

What you will do

iOS testing

- Write and execute functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, and negative tests for the iOS app.
- Test on physical iPhones and the iOS Simulator ; cover agreed iOS versions , device sizes, and orientations.
- Validate iOS behavior: login, permissions (camera, photos, location, notifications), backgrounding, app kill/relaunch, rotation, Dark Mode, Dynamic Type, locale/timezone, and TestFlight vs debug builds.
- Test offline/online sync , poor network, and data that must round-trip from the device to the backend and back.
- Reproduce and isolate iOS defects with clear steps, screenshots, screen recordings, device/OS/build, and Console / crash evidence where available.
- Perform risk-based regression on high-impact journeys before each release.
- Partner with developers on build availability, environment issues, and device-specific failures.
- Contribute to go/no-go input for iOS releases.

Azure DevOps

- Author and maintain test cases, test suites, and test plans in Azure DevOps Test Plans .
- Link tests and bugs to PBIs, user stories, and bugs on Azure Boards ; keep work items accurate through the sprint.
- Execute test runs, record pass / fail / blocked , and attach evidence in ADO.
- Log defects with severity/priority, repro steps, expected vs actual, iOS device/OS/build, and linked work items.
- Track testing progress against sprint/release scope; flag blocked tests and environment issues early.

SQL Server

- Write SQL Queries against SQL Server (SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, GROUP BY, aggregations) to verify what the iOS app saved .
- Use SQL Server to set up and reset test data (accounts, jobs, sites, statuses,



dates) in QA following data-safety rules.
- Confirm create/update/delete and sync: device action vs rows in SQL Server.
- Investigate data mismatches (wrong counts, stale rows, timezone/datetime, missing FKs) and attach query results to bugs.
- Validate lists, reports, and widgets against SQL Server source data, not UI-only checks.
- Use SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or Azure Data Studio for day-to-day query work.

Quality process

- Translate acceptance criteria into test cases, including edge cases and negative paths.
- Keep a living iOS regression suite; retire obsolete cases and add coverage when features change.
- Communicate status, risks, and defect trends in standups and release reviews.
- Document tests so another tester can run the same suite without tribal knowledge.

Required qualifications

- 3+ years software QA experience, including 2+ years hands-on iOS testing (native or hybrid).
- Proven experience writing and executing manual iOS test cases (functional, regression, exploratory).
- Hands-on Azure DevOps : Boards (work items, queries, linking) and Test Plans (test cases, suites, runs, results).
- Hands-on SQL Server and T-SQL : querying, joins, filters, and using results to validate application behavior.
- Comfort with SSMS (or Azure Data Studio) against QA/staging databases.
- Strong defect writing: clear repro, expected vs actual, severity, iOS device/OS/build, and attachments.
- Experience testing on physical iPhones plus Simulator when appropriate.
- Strong written communication; ability to work independently, prioritize risk, and meet release deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

· IoT with a mobile app: pairing, telemetry, firmware, Bluetooth/BLE, sensors, or similar peripherals.

- Offline-first / field-service iOS apps (sync,



conflict handling, poor network).
- Azure DevOps advanced use: shared steps, parameters, configurations (device/OS), dashboards, and queries.
- SQL Server beyond basics: views, stored procedures (execute and interpret results), subqueries.
- iOS diagnostics: Console, crash logs, TestFlight, Proxyman/Charles, or similar.
- API testing (Postman, REST) used alongside UI and SQL Server checks.
- Familiarity with Appium or other mobile automation — execution or collaboration, not necessarily ownership.
- Accessibility (VoiceOver, Agile Type) and localization testing on iOS.
- Domain experience in [field service / SaaS / pest control / regulated industry — insert if relevant].
- ISTQB or equivalent (nice to have).
