BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTIONInfrastructure Operations and Networks (IO&N;) delivers technology stability in support of the client and employee experience by running, protecting and transforming applications and technology that support enterprise processes, while also supporting our businesses in delivering creative technology changes to create enduring value for our clients.JOB PURPOSE:The Intermediate Automation Platform Support Engineer supports the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of enterprise automation platforms and infrastructure services. Working with guidance from experienced engineers, this role assists with automation development, monitoring, incident response, documentation, and routine support across Linux infrastructure, database environments, and related platform services.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Provide day-to-day support for automation platforms such as Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, and related orchestration tools, with guidance from senior team members.Assist with developing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting Ansible playbooks, roles, job templates, workflows, and reusable automation components.Support Terraform configurations and infrastructure-as-code workflows for provisioning and lifecycle management.Monitor automation jobs, Linux infrastructure, database platforms, and supporting services; escalate issues when required.Respond to incidents, service requests, and alerts by following established procedures and documenting actions taken.Help identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve the consistency of routine operational processes.Support patching, compliance, vulnerability remediation, configuration checks, and infrastructure health reporting through automation.Assist with integrations involving IT service management, monitoring, logging, CI/CD, source control,



and secrets management platforms.Contribute to troubleshooting and root cause analysis for recurring automation or infrastructure issues.Collaborate with infrastructure, database, security, application, cloud, and operations teams.Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, support procedures, and knowledge articles.Participate in peer reviews, team learning, change activities, release support, and an on-call rotation where required.CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Coordinates with Internal and External technology partner for infrastructure escalations.Collaborates with internal technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure seamless support operations.COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTSAs a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSEducation:Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.Must have skills:57 years of relevant experience in infrastructure support, platform operations, automation, DevOps, systems administration, or a related technical role; equivalent internship, co-op, academic, or project experience may be considered.Foundational knowledge of automation or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent technologies.Proficient in spoken and written English.Basic scripting experience with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or a similar language.Basic understanding of incident, service request, change,



and release management processes.Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures, analyze logs, and investigate issues involving automation workflows, servers, connectivity, permissions, or platform dependencies.Clear communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies.Preferred Qualifications:Exposure to Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Ansible Tower, execution environments, collections, inventories, or workflow templates.Exposure to Terraform Enterprise, Terraform Cloud, or infrastructure-as-code practices.Coursework, certification, lab, internship, or project experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.Basic awareness of security controls, secrets management, vulnerability management, compliance, and audit requirements.Experience working in a team-based technical support or enterprise environment.Development Expectations:Complete assigned support and automation tasks with appropriate guidance and increasing independence over time.Follow established development, testing, documentation, change, and operational support standards.Ask questions, seek feedback, and build practical knowledge of automation platforms and infrastructure services.Participate in troubleshooting and incident response while escalating complex or high-impact issues promptly.Contribute ideas for small improvements to automation reliability, monitoring, documentation, and team processes.Nice To Have:Familiarity with Windows/Linux systems Git-based source control, and fundamental CI/CD concepts, infrastructure-as-code delivery models.Familiar with monitoring or logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, SCOM, or equivalent platforms.Familiar with ServiceNow or another IT service management platform.WORKING CONDITIONS:This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.
