Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Solar QA/QC Engineer with strong hands-on experience in utility-scale MW solar power projects. The candidate will be responsible for Site Execution, Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities for both Electrical and Civil works, ensuring that project execution complies with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, method statements, ITPs, and applicable codes.
The ideal candidate should have practical site experience in Solar PV plant construction, installation, testing and commissioning, with the ability to independently manage QA/QC activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
QA/QC General
- Develop, implement and maintain project-specific QA/QC plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and quality procedures.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out as per approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements and applicable standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify deviations, defects and non-conformities.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection Requests (IRs), Quality Reports, NCRs, Corrective Action Reports and inspection records.
- Coordinate with the Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Project Management and Client/Consultant teams for quality-related matters.
- Monitor subcontractor and vendor compliance with approved quality requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspection and testing activities.
- Conduct quality audits and inspections of ongoing construction activities.
- Follow up on NCR closure and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain complete Quality Documentation / Quality Dossier for project handover.
Electrical QA/QC Responsibilities
- Inspect installation of Solar PV modules, module mounting structures, DC cables, AC cables, cable trays, junction boxes, string combiner boxes and inverters.
- Monitor installation of HT/LT equipment, transformers, RMUs, switchgear, protection systems and auxiliary systems.
- Inspect DC and AC cable laying, dressing, termination, crimping,
glanding and tagging.
- Verify cable routes, trench construction, cable segregation and installation practices.
- Inspect earthing and lightning protection systems, including earth pits, earth conductors and equipment earthing.
- Inspect installation of SCADA, communication and monitoring systems.
- Verify calibration certificates of testing and measuring instruments.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with approved SLDs, drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
- Coordinate with testing & commissioning teams for quality clearance and punch-point closure.
Civil QA/QC Responsibilities
- Inspect site grading, excavation, filling, compaction and land development works.
- Monitor construction of module mounting structure foundations, inverter foundations, transformer foundations and equipment foundations.
- Inspect reinforcement, shuttering, anchor bolts, embedded items and concrete works.
- Verify concrete mix design, batching, pouring, vibration, curing and cube testing.
- Conduct/coordinate tests such as soil compaction, concrete cube tests and other required material tests.
- Inspect construction of internal roads, drainage systems, cable trenches, culverts and fencing.
- Verify survey levels, dimensions and alignment against approved drawings.
- Ensure civil materials meet approved specifications and quality requirements.
- Monitor waterproofing, grouting and finishing works wherever applicable.
- Identify civil defects and ensure timely rectification and closure.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly QA/QC reports.
- Maintain inspection records, test reports, material inspection reports and calibration certificates.
- Review Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and relevant quality documents.
- Maintain approved drawings, method statements, ITPs and checklists at site.
- Prepare and maintain NCR, observation and punch-point registers.
- Ensure all quality records are properly compiled for final project handover and as-built documentation.
- Support client/consultant inspections and audits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in QA/QC, preferably in utility-scale solar PV projects.
- Robust hands-on experience in both Electrical and Civil QA/QC activities in MW-scale solar projects.
- Candidates with experience in EPC Solar Power Projects will be preferred.
- Good knowledge of construction quality standards, inspection procedures and testing requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret Electrical SLDs, IFC drawings, civil drawings and technical specifications.
- Good knowledge of ITPs, Method Statements, NCRs, Inspection Requests and Quality Documentation.
- Experience in handling clients, consultants, subcontractors and third-party inspection agencies.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV plant end to end site execution and QA/QC processes.
- Good knowledge of applicable IS/IEC standards and project specifications.
- Strong inspection and reporting skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to identify quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ability to work independently at remote project sites.
- Willingness to travel and work at project locations across India.
- Proficiency in MS Office and preparation of QA/QC reports.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Solar QA/QC professional who has successfully worked on utility-scale MW solar projects and can independently monitor quality across both Electrical and Civil scopes, from initial construction through testing, commissioning and project handover.
