Focuses on patients and Patient companions Physical, Psychological, and Emotional comfort. - Planning and prioritizing of tasks. - Plans and evaluates patient workload distribution and management within each designated area. Allocates department resources in line with requirement; day to day demands anticipated and adequate resources assigned. - Responsible for process implementation and monitoring of staff and workload Information systems. - Keeps up to date appraisal of Unit capability and requirements. - Keeps an up-to-date knowledge of the unit and drug changes and instructs staff of such changes. - Review and inform Nursing Superintendent regarding nursing unit problems and needs, recommending changes in the policies and procedures. - Assist the Nursing Superintendent in the investigation of reports of incidents, suspected infections and patient / doctor complaints and resolves problems or makes recommendation for action. - Assist the Nursing Superintendent in the justification in the ordering of equipment and supplies required by the units. Ensures that comprehensive care is given to each patient and evaluates the services rendered. - Schedules nursing personnel to ensure adequate staffing for each shift. - Collaborates with Nursing Superintendent in determining and obtaining equipment and supplies needed in the performance of patient care. - Assists nursing personnel in identifying patient and family needs. - Participates in setting patient care standards - Counsel’s relatives when required at the waiting area Co-ordinates with the consultants to ensure that good nursing care is provided. - Ensures that all physicians’ orders are executed in accordance with established policies and procedures.



- Works with the Nursing Superintendent to appraise consultant of specific nursing problems and secure guidance for handling. Financial Responsibilities - Maintains and updates Inventory Quality management: - Ensures compliance with accreditation standards - Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance. - Ensures the proper disposal of sharps and hospital waste. - Ensures Patient safety protocols are strictly adhered. - Ensures appropriate nursing standards are maintained. - Responsible for service excellence towards patient care, contributing to achieving the service vision. - Participates in Quality improvement projects; conducts and participates in internal and inter Unit audits. - Demonstrate skills and knowledge to be a resource and support for clinical & Nursing management issues. - Aware of NABH & Nursing Excellence standards and ensures implementation. - Understands and commits to achieving nursing and hospital goals. - Provide reports on productivity, quality, and customer service metrics. People & Team Management: Ensures Nurse personal grooming as per standard. - Plans and implements nurse training & education. - Evaluates performance and advances the professional development of team.



- Manages performance assists in building and growing Nursing talent through training, learning and on job assignments. - Responsible for competency mapping & assessment. - Ensure team discipline and adherence to policy and guidelines. - Provides on job orientation to nursing personnel and keeps them informed of the policies, and procedures to be followed in caring for patients and their families. - Provides for in-service and/or continuing education for the nursing staff in the area. - Evaluates the work performance of the staff. - Counsel staff on personal and work problems. - Plans staff work assignments and schedules. - Ensure protected practice is carried out and staff follows the regulations, procedures and policies laid out by the hospital. - Continuous work assessment / evaluation on staff performance and provide counseling, advise, and support for staff on work related problems. - Ensure even distribution of workload and take appropriate action if these are seen to be such as to constitute abuse of individual practitioner and / or as jeopardize patient care/ safe practice. - To teach, supervise and support staff in carrying out their duties. - Responsible for quality improvement and staffing. - Assigning the staff for surgeries according to their knowledge and ability. - Supervise the procurement and maintenance of the equipment supply and requirements (Rental) Coordinates with MOD for night NICU retrieval pick & drop. - May oversee pre op and postoperative patients. - Giving information to the relatives in case of the delay in surgery and prolonged procedures. - Checking and auditing narcotics every day if applicable. - Positive environment in the unit
