EMBEDDED HARDWARE ENGINEER II

Who We Are

Pinaak Aerial Systems Private Limited is a drone technology startup developing indigenous, mission-configurable UAV platforms for defence applications. We develop flight-control, communication, payload and supporting electronic systems for reliable operation in demanding field environments.

About the role

As a Hardware Engineer II, you will independently own electronic hardware modules and subsystems for UAV flight controllers, payload systems, communication electronics, power systems and onboard electronicsfrom requirements and circuit design through PCB development, prototype bring-up, validation and production support.

The role requires strong hands-on electronics design capability, independent debugging maturity and the ability to resolve complex hardware, power, signal-integrity and hardware–firmware integration issues with limited supervision.

This remains a hands-on individual-contributor role. You may guide Engineer I team members on specific designs and debugging activities but will not own organisation-wide hardware architecture or final design authority.

Key Responsibilities

- Independently own hardware modules from requirements, architecture and component selection through schematic, PCB, validation and release.
- Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, communication and microcontroller-based circuits.
- Select components based on electrical performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle, cost and environmental requirements.
- Review and guide PCB placement and routing for power integrity, signal integrity, grounding, EMI/EMC, thermal performance and manufacturability.
- Design interfaces for microcontrollers, sensors, IMUs, GNSS, telemetry/RF modules, storage, ESCs, actuators and payload electronics.
- Design and validate DC-DC converters, LDOs, power sequencing, protection, battery interfaces and power-distribution circuits.
- Design and debug UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, ADC, PWM and other high-/low-speed interfaces.
- Independently perform prototype board bring-up and hardware–firmware integration.
- Diagnose intermittent and complex hardware failures using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, current probes and other laboratory equipment.
- Analyse signal quality, power rails, current consumption,



startup behaviour, reset conditions, timing and noise-related issues.
- Conduct design reviews, schematic reviews and PCB reviews for assigned subsystems.
- Perform component derating, tolerance analysis and basic worst-case design assessment where required.
- Support EMI/EMC, temperature, vibration, environmental and reliability testing and resolve failures.
- Analyse field and flight failures, establish root causes and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Work with PCB fabrication, assembly and manufacturing teams to resolve prototype and production issues.
- Assess hardware release readiness based on functional validation, environmental testing, known issues and production readiness.
- Maintain schematics, BOMs, PCB revision records, design calculations, validation reports and engineering-change documentation.
- Guide junior engineers on specific circuit-design, testing and debugging activities.

Technology Exposure

Circuit Design: Analog, digital, mixed-signal, MCU-based systems, power supplies, protection, signal conditioning and sensor interfaces.

Interfaces: UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, ADC, PWM, GPIO and board-level communication interfaces.

PCB Development: Schematic capture, multilayer PCB design, grounding, impedance considerations, power/signal integrity, DFM/DFT and PCB bring-up.

UAV Electronics: Flight controllers, IMUs, GNSS, telemetry/RF modules, ESC interfaces, payload electronics, power distribution and onboard communication systems.

Tools: Altium Designer/KiCad/OrCAD or equivalent; oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, electronic loads, laboratory power supplies and relevant simulation/analysis tools.

Required Skills

- Solid practical knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Hands-on experience independently designing electronic products or substantial PCB modules.
- Strong understanding of microcontroller hardware, sensors,



communication interfaces and power supplies.
- Good understanding of schematic design and multilayer PCB design practices.
- Practical knowledge of grounding, decoupling, EMI/EMC, signal integrity and power integrity.
- Ability to perform component selection and interpret datasheets beyond reference-design copying.
- Strong board bring-up and hardware-debugging capability.
- Ability to independently diagnose complex or intermittent hardware and hardware–firmware integration failures.
- Understanding of DFM, DFT, component lifecycle and production considerations.
- Ability to plan validation, assess design risks and determine release readiness for assigned hardware.
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and engineering judgement.
- Clear technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Profile

- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical, Instrumentation, Avionics or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of relevant hardware design and product-development experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of at least one electronic product or substantial PCB/module from design through validation.
- Hands-on experience with Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD or equivalent.
- Experience with MCU-based hardware, sensors, CAN, GNSS, RF/telemetry or power electronics.
- Experience in UAV, aerospace, robotics, automotive, industrial electronics or other reliability-critical electronic products will be preferred.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC testing, environmental qualification and production transfer will be advantageous.

The role requires more than schematic capture. It requires sound circuit-design fundamentals, careful component selection, PCB judgement, structured validation and understanding of how hardware behaves in real products and field conditions.
