Role & responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Industrial Relations
- Manage day-to-day IR at plant level: union relations, negotiations, wage settlements and long-term agreements
- Handle disciplinary proceedings, domestic enquiries, and grievance redressal
- Liaise with labour department, local administration and government bodies on compliance and statutory matters
- Manage contract labour, including compliance under CLRA and other applicable labour laws
- Build and maintain a stable, cooperative industrial relations climate at the unit
- Anticipate and resolve local issues community, land, law and order that could impact plant operations
- Represent management in conciliation proceedings, labour court matters and statutory inspections
Key Responsibilities - Human Resources
Talent Acquisition
- Drive plant-level recruitment, with focus on hiring locally where feasible
HR Operations
- Oversee payroll inputs, attendance,
statutory compliance and HR documentation
Learning & Development
- Identify training needs and drive capability-building programs for plant employees
Performance Management
- Run the goal-setting and appraisal cycle for the unit
Employee Engagement
Preferred candidate profile
Desired Candidate Profile
- Solid hands-on IR experience in a unionized plant environment
- Proven track record of handling wage settlements, negotiations and labour disputes independently
- Comfortable working in a remote plant location and engaging with local stakeholders
- Good communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Prior experience in cement, steel, mining or similar heavy industry preferred
