Role & responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Compiler Component Test Engineer responsible for validating and ensuring the quality, reliability, performance, and release readiness of compiler technologies supporting modern GPU architectures.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing comprehensive validation strategies, developing robust automation frameworks, investigating complex compiler issues, and collaborating closely with compiler development, runtime, validation, and product engineering teams to deliver high-quality releases within a rapidly evolving technical environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Design, develop, and execute comprehensive validation plans for compiler components, including OpenCL and HIP, across multiple AMD products and operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
•Validate support for programming models such as OpenCL, HIP, OpenMP, and emerging technologies.
•Verify compiler correctness across multiple architectures, operating systems, and target platforms.
•Analyze test results and quality metrics to identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
•Manage the complete defect lifecycle, including issue identification, debugging, triage,
root-cause analysis, defect tracking, verification, and closure.
•Collaborate with compiler developers to establish reproducible environments using containerization and orchestration technologies, isolate issues, and facilitate timely defect resolution.
•Apply agentic AI techniques to accelerate test generation, defect triage, and root-cause analysis, and integrate intelligent diagnostic capabilities into validation pipelines.
•Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including test plans, procedures, test fixtures, coverage maps, release-readiness criteria, and retrospectives.
•Enhance automation coverage through close collaboration with QA, validation, and engineering teams.
•Integrate automated validation into CI pipelines to improve quality, reliability, and turnaround time.
•Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align automation objectives with program requirements and priorities.
•Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, validation efficiency, quality, and reporting.
•Collaborate with compiler engineering, runtime, program management, and other stakeholder teams to define, track, and achieve program schedules, milestones,
and deliverables.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE:
•Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks using Python, C++, Shell scripting, or related technologies.
•Familiarity with testing professional workstation applications on windows, including Blender, Nuke, Redshift, Adobe Premier pro, Adobe Photoshop, etc
•Knowledge of compiler validation frameworks, with strong hands-on experience using CI/CD technologies, particularly Jenkins, Jenkins Pipelines and github actions.
•Working knowledge of Docker and GitHub for containerization, version control, and engineering collaboration.
•Robust analytical, problem-solving, and debugging capabilities across firmware, BIOS, driver, and platform layers.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and cross-functional teams.
•Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise defect reports, lead cross-functional triage activities, establish and promote quality standards, and maintain rigorous documentation practices.
Preferred candidate profile
BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 4 to 6 years of experience.
•Familiarity with GPU computing technologies and programming models, including HIP, CUDA, OpenCL, or OpenMP.
•Exposure to machine learning, high-performance computing (HPC), or parallel programming environments.
•Understanding of assembly language and computer architecture
