Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ/WQT) as per applicable codes and project requirements.
- Ensure welding activities are performed in accordance with approved WPS, drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
- Plan and coordinate welder qualification and performance qualification tests.
- Provide technical guidance for selection of appropriate welding processes, consumables, parameters and techniques based on material and joint requirements.
- Monitor welding activities involving SMAW, GTAW, GMAW/FCAW and SAW, as applicable.
- Ensure proper control of preheating, interpass temperature and Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) requirements.
- Establish and monitor systems for welding consumable storage, baking, holding, issue and traceability.
- Review welding requirements for Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel and other materials used in process equipment fabrication.
- Coordinate with Production and QA/QC teams for inspection and NDT activities including RT, UT, PT and MT.
- Analyse welding defects and initiate root-cause analysis, corrective actions and weld repair procedures.




- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASME Section IX, ASME Section VIII and customer/project specifications.
- Review fabrication drawings, weld joints, weld symbols and related technical documents from a welding engineering perspective.
- Provide technical support to Production during fabrication of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, tanks and other process equipment.
- Coordinate with Third-Party Inspection Agencies (TPI), customers and consultants for welding-related inspections and documentation.
- Maintain welding-related documentation, traceability records and manufacturing quality records.
- Work closely with Design, Production, Quality, Projects, Planning and Supply Chain teams to resolve welding-related technical issues.
- Support productivity improvement, weld rejection reduction, cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Quality, Safety and EHS requirements during all welding activities.

Key Competencies

Technical: Welding Technology, WPS/PQR/WPQ, ASME Codes, Welding Metallurgy, NDT, PWHT, Weld Defect Analysis, Fabrication Processes and Engineering Drawing Interpretation.
