Packet Core Engineer

Locations

Responsibilities

- Monitor Packet Core network elements and services through OSS/NMS tools.
- Perform real-time surveillance of LTE EPC and 5G Core alarms.
- Execute initial fault isolation, impact assessment, and troubleshooting.
- Acknowledge, analyze, and escalate critical alarms as per operational procedures.
- Open and manage trouble tickets with internal teams and vendors.
- Perform health checks and routine operational activities.
- Follow incident, change, and problem management processes.
- Prepare shift handover reports and operational summaries.
- Coordinate with L2, Engineering, Transmission, IP, RAN, and Vendor teams during incidents.
- Ensure SLA compliance and timely ticket resolution.
- Support planned maintenance activities during maintenance windows.
- Maintain operational documentation and SOPs.

- Packet tracing and analysis
- Wireshark

Tools

- OSS/NMS monitoring tools




- Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)
- Linux/Unix basics
- MS Office reporting tools

Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications such as Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, CCNA, or 5G certifications are preferred.

Experience

- For L1 Engineer: 0-3 years of Telecom NOC/Packet Core Operations experience.
- For Senior L1 Engineer: 3-5 years of LTE EPC / 5G Core Operations experience.
