Job Role: Lead Shift Engineer-Optical Transport Networks

Level: Deputy Manager (A1/DM)

Job Summary:

-
Lead 24x7 Shift operations, troubleshooting and timely resolution of network/service operational issues
in a transport network (SDH, OTN & DWDM systems). Ensure best in class experience to customers.
Ensure timely trouble tickets, updates, coordination and escalations with fiend operations and suppliers.
Responsible for the compliance to the agreed KPIs and SLAs. This Job Profile involves 24X7 operation,
working in shifts, including night shifts.

Job Deliverables:

24x7 NOC operations for a transport network comprising of DWDM,OTN and SDH networks
Ensure service assurance and performance management of the network and services, 24x7
Schedule & Track Planned activities and change management , Preventive maintenance
Ensure network quality, coordinating with Field operations and Suppliers.
Analysis and troubleshooting of issues, quickly resolve through remedial actions required,
Ensure SLA compliance.
L2 troubleshooting. Coordination with OEMs.
Prepare MoPs
Guide field support and DC teams during operations and service assurance
Ensure RMA with OEMs, coordinate with field teams for on-site activities. Track Repair & Return
Analyze severity of field activities, alert stakeholders to ensure safety of the network. Escalate,
when required.
Analysis of short term network service fluctuations and to control them.
Drive quality improvement actions
Ensure KPIs and SLAs committed.
Coordination with customer/data centre for service assurance, access to the site etc.
Performance Analysis and remedial actions.
Coordination with suppliers, Data Centres, Field operations teams and customer.




Timely notification and the resolution of TTs as per timelines.
Maintain availability of data communication networks and Network management systems.
Escalations as per processes and ensure 100% compliance to agreed SLA's
Support project takeover to operations, with various tests and verifications
Service Delivery/Turn Up procedures to be handled.
Prepare MIS, reports to customer and internal stakeholders
Support customer during operations .

Key Competencies/Skills:

Very valuable knowledge in Optical fiber networks, DWDM systems, OTN&SDH; technology, capable of L2 level troubleshooting and resolution of problems.
Hands on experience in the NOC operations of Optical fiber based DWDM systems
Service Assurance and performance analysis
Knowledge of Infinera, Ciena, Nokia, Adva high bandwidth DWDM & OTN systems and NMSs.
Basic knowledge of IP/Data devices and carrier networks
Maintaining Agreed SLAs.
Very good technical communication skills in English, to communicate with geographically and
culturally diverse stakeholders.

Analytical and problem solving skills and willingness to learn.
Very good coordination skills.
Logical thinking.
Proactive.
Data analysis and presentation skills, using popular tools.
High customer focus
Team player.

Educational Level & Working Experience

BE in Electronics & Telecommunications.
3 to 6 years of work experience, with advanced troubleshooting, performance analysis and
configuration skills, in NOC for Optical fiber networks and DWDM systems in NLD/Metro networks.
Exposure to Cisco , Infinera, Nokia equipment and NMS required.
Basic knowledge of IP/Data networks, troubleshooting.
Must have very good technical communication skills in English.
