Role Summary
Build the software layer that runs on ABPPL's ground stations, onboard compute modules and radio management systems embedded Linux platforms, video/telemetry pipelines, radio-control APIs and swarm ground-control software.
Job Description
- Build and maintain embedded Linux images (Yocto/Buildroot) for NXP i.MX 8M / RT-class and similar sovereign compute platforms; bring up kernel drivers and device trees.
- Develop application software in C++ and Python: MAVLink routing, GStreamer video pipelines, radio management APIs (REST/LuCI-style), telemetry logging and mission tooling.
- Contribute to ground-control-station software (Qt/QML or web-based) for multi-vehicle and swarm operation.
- Integrate with MCU firmware and radio hardware across UART/USB/Ethernet; define and document interface control specs.
- Set up CI, unit/integration tests and reproducible builds for embedded targets.
- Handle security basics: secure boot, signed updates, hardened services on fielded devices.
Experience
- 35 years hands-on product development (design/build/ship; not support, services, or QA-only)
Key Skills
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics, analogue electronics, or PCB design.
- Experience designing hardware that has been used in production or field applications.
- Strong knowledge of switch-mode power supplies, magnetics, loop compensation, thermal design, and protection circuits.
- Proficiency in KiCad or Altium.
- Basic knowledge of embedded systems and MCU peripherals such as ADC, PWM, I2C, and SPI.
- Ability to read schematics, flash/debug microcontrollers, and write basic Python scripts.
- Experience with Git, issue trackers, and technical documentation.
- Willingness to work on defence and dual-use technology projects and travel for field trials.

- Use AI/LLM tools daily for schematic and code generation, datasheet analysis, test-plan drafting and design review preparation.
- Be accountable for every AI-generated artefact you submit: verify it against datasheets, standards and measurement; reject or correct wrong output.
- Maintain structured, versioned engineering documentation (Git, issue tracker, design-review packages) so AI tools and colleagues can build on your work.
Work Preference
- On-site at Thaltej, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with field-trial travel within India. Suitable for engineers with embedded Linux product-development experience and strong C++/Python skills.
