Role & responsibilities
- Design and review HV systems for utility-scale solar and hybrid projects, including SLDs, substation layouts, protection & control, busbar/conductor sizing, short-circuit forces, sag & tension, DSLP, and earthing calculations.
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, grounding, lightning, insulation coordination, and TOV analysis.
- Design and support collector systems and POI interconnections in compliance with IEEE, NEC, NESC, and utility requirements.
- Review and approve vendor drawings for MPTs, HV/MV breakers, disconnectors, CT/VTs, insulators, and other major substation equipment.
- Coordinate with DC, civil, SCADA, EPC/EOR, utility, and vendor teams for design integration and technical resolution.
- Provide construction engineering support,
respond to RFIs, resolve site issues, and support commissioning and as-built documentation.
Preferred candidate profile
- B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering with 58 years of experience in HV electrical engineering and substation design.
- Proven experience delivering HV designs for utility-scale solar, hybrid, and power generation projects.
- Solid expertise in AIS/GIS substation design, protection & control, and grid interconnection.
- Knowledge of US standards and utility requirements, including IEEE, NEC, and NESC.
- Experience with US-based renewable energy projects preferred.
