Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Medical Coding Trainer to deliver comprehensive training on medical coding concepts, coding guidelines, and healthcare documentation. The trainer will be responsible for preparing and delivering training programs, evaluating learner performance, and ensuring trainees develop the required skills to meet quality and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training programs for freshers and experienced medical coders.
- Provide training on ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and applicable coding guidelines.
- Explain medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes relevant to coding.
- Train employees on specialty-specific coding, including E&M;, Surgery, ED and Evaluation & Management, as applicable.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Allied Health, Medical, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex medical/coding concepts in a straightforward and effective manner.
Preferred Certifications
- AAPC CPC
- AHIMA CCS
Experience
- 1+years of hands-on medical coding Trainer experience preferred.
- Prior experience as a Medical Coding Trainer, SME, QA, or Auditor is highly desirable.
- Experience handling new-hire training, refresher training, assessments, and OJT/nesting is preferred.
