Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Legal Compliance Manager to manage legal, contractual, regulatory and compliance matters across the organizations logistics and operational activities.

The candidate will be responsible for contract drafting and negotiation, legal advisory, litigation management, statutory and regulatory compliance, risk assessment, government liaison, and compliance audits .

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, supply chain or a closely related industry .

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory

- Provide legal advice to management and business teams on operational and commercial matters.
- Identify legal risks associated with transportation, warehousing, vendors, customers and business operations.
- Advise Operations, HR, Finance, Procurement and Administration on legal matters.
- Monitor changes in applicable laws and advise management on their business impact.

2. Contract Management

- Draft, review, vet and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Handle:
- Customer agreements
- Transporter agreements
- Vendor/service agreements
- Logistics and warehousing agreements
- SLA agreements
- Lease agreements
- NDA/MOU agreements
- Procurement and service contracts

- Identify unfavorable clauses relating to liability, indemnity, penalties, termination, insurance and dispute resolution.
- Maintain a centralized contract repository and monitor renewals and contractual obligations.

Contract management is particularly key in logistics because the legal function typically supports transportation, warehousing, freight-forwarding, vendor and customer arrangements.

3. Regulatory Statutory Compliance





- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing logistics and transportation operations.
- Monitor licences, permits, registrations and statutory renewals.
- Coordinate compliance requirements relating to transportation, vehicles, warehouses and operational locations.
- Support compliance with applicable GST/e-way bill, transport, labour, safety and other regulatory requirements relevant to the business.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and identify gaps.
- Maintain compliance trackers and ensure timely corrective action.

Logistics operations can involve transport/vehicle requirements, GST and e-way bills, labour compliance, warehouse licences, insurance and customer/transport contracts.

4. Labour Contract Labour Compliance

- Advise HR and Operations on applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Monitor compliance relating to contract labour, wages, PF, ESI, gratuity and other applicable employment requirements.
- Review manpower/vendor compliance documentation.
- Coordinate labour-law audits and inspections.
- Support resolution of labour-related disputes and notices.

Contract-labour compliance is especially relevant where logistics businesses use third-party manpower at warehouses, hubs and operational locations.

5. Litigation Dispute Management

- Manage civil, commercial, contractual, labour and regulatory disputes.
- Review and respond to legal notices.
- Coordinate with external advocates and legal counsel.
- Monitor ongoing cases and maintain a litigation tracker.
- Assist in arbitration, mediation, settlement and other dispute-resolution proceedings.
- Assess potential financial and operational exposure arising from disputes.





Logistics legal roles commonly include litigation involving commercial disputes, recovery matters, regulatory notices and representation before government/regulatory authorities.

6. Legal Risk Management

- Identify and assess legal and compliance risks across business operations.
- Develop preventive controls and risk-mitigation measures.
- Review operational processes from a legal-risk perspective.
- Advise management on potential liabilities arising from contracts, vendors, customers, employees and regulatory requirements.
- Support insurance and claims-related legal matters where applicable.

7. Government Regulatory Liaison

- Liaise with government departments, regulatory bodies and statutory authorities.
- Coordinate responses to notices, inspections and regulatory enquiries.
- Support documentation and representation before relevant authorities.
- Maintain proper records of regulatory correspondence and proceedings.

8. Compliance Audit Documentation

- Conduct periodic legal and compliance audits across offices, warehouses and operational locations.
- Identify compliance gaps and prepare corrective-action plans.
- Track closure of audit observations.
- Maintain legal documentation, licences, contracts, notices and compliance records.
- Prepare periodic MIS reports for senior management.

Current legal/compliance roles also emphasize regular reviews, audits, on-ground assessments and documented corrective actions rather than merely maintaining paperwork.

9. Policy SOP Development

- Draft and review legal and compliance-related policies and SOPs.
- Update policies based on changes in applicable laws.
- Conduct legal/compliance awareness sessions for employees and business teams.
- Ensure proper implementation of compliance controls across locations.
