Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Electronics & Communication Engineer with hands-on experience in shipbuilding/ship repair, particularly in EM Log systems, marine electronics, and engine automation systems. The candidate will be responsible for installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic, communication, navigation, and automation systems onboard vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of marine electronic and automation systems.
- Hands-on experience with Electromagnetic Log (EM Log) systems, including sensor installation, cabling, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in main engine and auxiliary engine automation systems.
- Installation and commissioning of engine monitoring and control systems.
- Troubleshoot PLC, control panels, sensors, transmitters, actuators, alarms, and indication systems.
- Work with engine automation systems such as:
- Engine control and monitoring systems
- Alarm and monitoring systems
- Remote control systems
- Safety and shutdown systems
- RPM/speed monitoring
- Temperature and pressure monitoring
- Level and flow measurement systems
- Read and interpret electrical/electronic drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules.
- Carry out cable termination, continuity checks, insulation testing, loop checking, and signal verification.
- Interface with PLC, HMI, sensors, actuators, control panels, and communication networks.
- Support installation and troubleshooting of marine communication and navigation equipment.
- Coordinate with shipyard production, electrical, mechanical, commissioning, and QA/QC teams.
- Coordinate with OEM/service engineers during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct harbour and sea trials and rectify system-related observations.
- Prepare commissioning reports, test records, inspection reports, and system documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with approved drawings, manufacturer recommendations, vessel specifications, class requirements,
and applicable marine standards.
- Follow shipyard safety procedures and ensure safe working practices onboard vessels.
Required Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of marine electronics and instrumentation.
- Practical experience with EM Log / Electromagnetic Speed Log.
- Valuable understanding of engine automation and control systems.
- Knowledge of PLC, HMI, I/O systems, sensors, transmitters, relays, control panels, and automation networks.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, and other marine communication interfaces.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic signals and control circuits.
- Knowledge of marine navigation and communication systems will be an added advantage.
- Ability to understand P&ID;, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and instrumentation drawings.
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates with a Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering with strong relevant shipbuilding experience may also be considered.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine automation, or vessel commissioning.

- Willingness to work in dock, shipyard, engine room, and onboard vessel environments
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
