About the Role

Syenah Study Abroad is looking for an experienced Academic Counsellor to join our team in Thrissur.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience working with a study-abroad/overseas education consultancy and understand student counselling, university selection, admissions and the application process.

This role involves working directly with students and parents, understanding their academic and career goals, recommending suitable study-abroad options, and guiding them throughout their admission journey.

We are looking for someone who combines strong counselling skills with effective follow-up and lead-conversion abilities and is comfortable working towards defined targets.

Key Responsibilities

- Counsel students and parents regarding study-abroad opportunities across destinations such as the UK, Europe, USA and other international destinations.
- Understand students' academic backgrounds, career goals, financial requirements and preferences.
- Recommend suitable countries, universities, courses and study pathways based on individual student profiles.
- Handle walk-in, phone and digital enquiries/leads effectively.
- Build trust with students and parents and address their questions and objections professionally.
- Follow up consistently with prospective students and maintain an organised counselling pipeline.
- Guide students through university selection and the application and admission process.
- Explain admission requirements, tuition fees,



scholarships, intakes and available study pathways.
- Assist students throughout the admission process and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Coordinate with application, documentation and visa teams to ensure a smooth student journey.
- Maintain accurate student records and update the counselling pipeline.
- Work towards monthly counselling, conversion and admission targets.
- Build strong and lasting relationships with students and parents.

Requirements

- 1–3 years of experience in study-abroad counselling or overseas education consulting.
- Previous experience working in a study-abroad agency/consultancy is required.
- Good knowledge of international education destinations, universities and admission processes.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent student counselling and relationship-building skills.
- Strong follow-up, negotiation and lead-conversion abilities.
- Ability to work towards targets and deadlines.
- Good command of English.
- Knowledge of Malayalam and/or Tamil will be an advantage.
- Confident, self-motivated and performance-oriented approach.
