We are looking for a highly hands-on Founding Engineer to help build a fintech and neobank platform from the ground up. This role is suited for an engineer who combines strong backend architecture expertise with the ability to write production-grade code and take complete ownership of critical technology initiatives.

You will work closely with the founders to design and build core financial infrastructure covering KYC/KYB, accounts, payments, cards, FX, and multi-currency money movement. The role requires deep ownership, strong engineering judgment, and experience building reliable financial systems where correctness, security, resilience, and operational visibility are critical.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build the core architecture of a fintech/neobank platform from the ground up.
- Develop production-grade backend services for accounts, payments, cards, KYC/KYB, FX, and multi-currency transactions.
- Design provider-independent integrations with banks, payment providers, card networks, and financial infrastructure partners.
- Build reliable financial ledger, reconciliation, and transaction-processing systems.
- Design transaction state machines covering successful, pending, failed, reversed, and recovery scenarios.
- Implement robust idempotency, retries, webhook processing, failure recovery, and event-driven workflows.
- Design secure and scalable APIs, databases, queues, and supporting infrastructure.
- Implement access controls, transaction limits, risk controls, and operational safeguards.




- Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational tooling required to support production financial systems.
- Own database architecture, data models, performance, reliability, and data integrity.
- Design and manage deployment infrastructure and production environments.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code and establish robust engineering standards.
- Investigate complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis and sustainable fixes.
- Work directly with founders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Contribute across the full technology stack when required, while maintaining strong backend ownership.
- Continuously improve system reliability, security, scalability, observability, and engineering efficiency.

What Makes You a Great Fit

- 4+ years of strong software engineering experience, with ability and impact valued alongside years of experience.
- Proven experience personally shipping live fintech, payments, banking, or financial technology systems to production.
- Strong hands-on experience with backend architecture, distributed systems,



APIs, databases, queues, and production infrastructure.
- Experience designing systems involving payments, ledgers, reconciliation, transactions, money movement, or financial integrations.
- Strong understanding of idempotency, retries, webhooks, state machines, failure handling, and transaction consistency.
- Experience integrating with external banking, payment, card, or financial service providers.
- Strong ownership of architecture as well as hands-on implementation and production delivery.
- Experience working in a startup, neobank, fintech, or high-growth technology environment is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript is preferred; equivalent backend expertise in another modern technology stack is welcome.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Docker, and cloud-native deployment is desirable.
- Familiarity with React/Next.js or full-stack development is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of security, access control, data integrity, and reliability requirements for financial systems.
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and solve complex problems with limited support.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work directly with founders and business stakeholders.
- Comfortable taking broad ownership in an early-stage environment and contributing wherever engineering priorities require.
- Passion for building foundational systems from zero and taking products from architecture through production.
