Role/Designation : Loom Operator

Department : OWI Weaving

Reporting to : Loom Master

Job Summary :

Loom Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring looms to produce high-quality webbings.

Core work:

1. Loom Operation: Operate their assigned looms.
2. Quality Monitoring: Monitor quality of webbing produced on looms.
3. Documentation: Record and Maintain Production logbook & breakdown register with required necessary detail.

Responsibilities/ Functions:

CREEL & LOOM SET UP:

- Always refer to the weaving SOP’s & loom card in setting up of creel & loom for specific article.
- Carrying out all the activities below as per loom card.

- Threading
- Knotting
- Leasing
- Denting for back & middle reed

Carrying out drawing and front reed denting on loom as per the loom card.

LOOM OPERATION:

- Ensuring that the Loom runs smoothly with minimal stops, to maximize loom efficiency and productivity.
- Reporting major mechanical issues and all electrical issues to loom master/shift supervisor for prompt resolution.

QUALITY





- Working on the loom with attention to the quality of the product
- Monitoring loom performance and webbing production process to ensure the quality of the webbings being produced.
- Identifying any kind of webbing defects during the production process, attending and repairing them by making necessary adjustments in loom.
- Monitoring, Measuring and recording of webbing quality parameters, such as width, curvature.
- Handling the raw materials carefully to avoid any damage to yarns.

DOCUMENTATION:

- Maintaining accurate production records, details of spares parts changed, repair time and machine downtime, and any issues encountered during the shift.

(Production logbook & Breakdown register)

- Maintaining records of In-process quality parameters of width & curvature.

SAFETY

- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), while operating the looms.
- Ensure all safety guards and emergency stop systems are functioning.
- Ensure the work setting is clean, safe, and organized, following 5S or other relevant manufacturing standards.
