Job Summary
Manipal Hospitals is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cath Lab Nurse to support complex diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing multidisciplinary team working alongside interventional cardiologists, anaesthesia teams, and cath lab technicians. You will ensure the highest standards of clinical care, patient safety, infection control, and continuous monitoring within a quick-paced environment. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Responsibilities1. Clinical Assisting & Sterile Field Management
- Procedure Support: Assist the interventional cardiologist and the broader Cath Lab team during complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., angiographies, angioplasties, stenting, and pacemaker insertions). [1, 2]
- Sterile Maintenance: Prepare, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment, guidewires, catheters, and general Cath Lab supplies in compliance with rigid hospital infection-control policies.
Patient Assessment & Monitoring
- Pre-Procedure Prep: Conduct pre-procedural assessments, verify informed patient consents, complete safety checklists, and prepare patients both physically and emotionally. [1, 2]
- Hemodynamic Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms (ECG interpretation), and overall clinical condition during procedures. [1, 2]
- Post-Procedure Recovery: Monitor patients through the post-catheterization phase, checking access sites for bleeding or hematomas and screening for early signs of clinical complications. [1, 2]

Medication & Emergency Management
- Drug Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications, contrast media, and emergency drugs in strict accordance with physician orders and established hospital protocols.
- Crisis Intervention: Act quickly to help manage acute medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest, life-threatening arrhythmias, severe contrast reactions, or sudden bleeding. [1, 2, 3]
Administrative & Operational Coordination
- Documentation: Maintain meticulous, timely records of all nursing interventions, procedure metrics, and medication charts within the hospitals Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
- Inventory Control: Track and manage critical Cath Lab consumables, emergency equipment, and specialized implants to guarantee availability for scheduled and emergency cases.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all department-specific radiation safety guidelines (wearing lead PPE) and general patient safety initiatives
Job Specifications & Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognized nursing council or institution.
- Mandatory Registration: Must hold a valid, active registration with the relevant state nursing council (e.g., Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC) for Karnataka branches).
- Experience: 1 to 6 years of relevant clinical experience in a Cath Lab, Cardiology unit, ICU, CCU, or Emergency Care setting. Direct Cath Lab exposure is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is highly preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is a major advantage
