Triage AI is building AI-powered operations software for importers, exporters, and global trade teams.

We are building systems that help companies automate trade compliance, shipment operations, document checking, customs workflows, tariff analysis, and exception management.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in HSN/HS classification, customs compliance, import/export regulations, and tariff analysis to work closely with our product and engineering teams.

This is not a traditional documentation role. You will help us translate real-world trade compliance workflows into software and AI products.

What You'll Work OnYou will help us understand and automate workflows including:

- HSN / HS code classification of products
- Interpretation of product descriptions, specifications, composition, and end use for classification
- Customs duty calculations
- Basic Customs Duty, IGST, SWS and other applicable duties
- Anti-Dumping Duty, Safeguard Duty and other trade-remedy measures
- Customs exemption notifications and concessional duty structures
- Country-specific tariff classification and trade requirements
- Import and export restrictions
- Bill of Entry and Shipping Bill classification checks
- ICEGATE and customs-related workflows
- Identifying incorrect or risky HS classifications
- Maintaining HSN / product classification masters
- Reviewing CHA/customs broker classifications
- Responding to classification-related customs queries
- Historical import/export data and port-level trade analysis

ResponsibilitiesYou will

- Act as the internal domain expert for HSN/HS classification and customs compliance.
- Classify products using the Customs Tariff, Section Notes, Chapter Notes, GIR rules and relevant notifications.
- Review product documentation including technical datasheets,



invoices, catalogues, composition and end-use information.
- Determine applicable customs duties and identify additional duties such as anti-dumping duties.
- Research customs notifications, DGFT regulations and tariff changes.
- Review Bills of Entry and other customs documentation for classification and duty accuracy.
- Work with importers, exporters, CHAs and logistics teams to understand real-world compliance workflows.
- Help identify opportunities where AI can automate repetitive trade-compliance work.
- Create decision trees, classification rules and datasets that can be used to train and evaluate our AI systems.
- Work directly with our founders, product managers and engineers to build trade-compliance products.
- Test AI-generated HSN classifications and identify errors, edge cases and compliance risks.

What We're Looking ForYou should have:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in Customs / Trade Compliance / HSN Classification / EXIM Compliance.
- Strong understanding of the Indian Customs Tariff and HS classification principles.
- Experience working with Bills of Entry, customs duties and import documentation.
- Familiarity with ICEGATE, DGFT and Indian Customs procedures.
- Experience interpreting customs notifications and tariff schedules.
- Ability to independently determine HS codes rather than simply using codes provided by vendors or CHAs.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to explain complex customs rules in simple language.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving startup setting.
