Role Description The Thermal System Lead – HVAC / Battery Cooling is a full-time, in office role based in Chennai. This position is responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of thermal systems for electric buses and commercial vehicles, including HVAC systems for passenger comfort and battery cooling solutions for optimal performance and safety. Day-to-day tasks include defining system requirements, performing thermal and airflow calculations, selecting components, and guiding integration with vehicle platforms.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams such as electrical, mechanical,



and vehicle integration engineering, as well as suppliers, to ensure robust system performance, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards.

The Thermal System

Lead will also analyze test data, troubleshoot thermal issues, support production and field operations, and contribute to continuous improvement of thermal architectures and efficiency.

Qualifications

- Strong analytical skills to perform thermal calculations, system modeling, and performance evaluations.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and technical support capabilities for HVAC and battery cooling systems in development, testing, and field environments.
- Solid foundation in information technology related to thermal system simulation tools, data acquisition, and diagnostics software.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders, and to document designs and test results clearly.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in HVAC system design, battery thermal management, or vehicle thermal systems, preferably in electric or commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and regulations for HVAC and battery cooling systems.
- Proficiency with CAD tools and thermal simulation software (e.g., CFD tools, thermal analysis packages) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, manage multiple projects, and drive technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
