Job Specifications
Desired Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Social Work, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree in human resources, Labor Welfare, Labor law or Employee Relations is preferred.
- Certification in Labor laws, compliance regulations, ER and IR is preferred
Desired Experience
- 7-10 years of experience in Statutory and Labor Compliance
- Working experience in manufacturing organization (Plant Location).
- Experience in electronic manufacturing or related industries is preferred.
- Experience in green field assignments or setting up of processes, systems, policies and implementation of rollouts is an added advantage
- Experience of working with a blue-collared (on-roll & contract) or a unionized workforce is preferred
Desired Certifications
- Additional certifications in Labour Laws, Compliance, HR Systems, Employee Relations, and POSH will be considered an added advantage.

Role Purpose: The Statutory & Labor Compliance Lead is a key individual contributor responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with all applicable labor laws, statutory regulations, and legal requirements while mitigating compliance, legal, and operational risks. Operating at the intersection of governance, risk management, and business continuity, the Statutory & Labour Compliance Lead drives compliance excellence through proactive compliance monitoring, implementation of statutory requirements, labour law compliance, contractor compliance governance, internal and external audits, customer audits, regulatory engagement, and policy deployment. The role ensures timely statutory filings, audit readiness, adherence to labour legislation, and effective closure of compliance observations while fostering a culture of integrity, accountability,
and continuous improvement.

Important Considerations:
1. This role is based at the plant (factory). It follows a six-day workweek and will be a 100% work from office role
2. The plant operates 24X7, flexibility to work in shifts based on business or operational requirements
3. Prior experience of managing plant / shop floor workforce is preferred
4. Ability to communicate in English and Tamil is essential
Contribution areas- Key Responsibilities
Statutory & Labor Compliance Governance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Central & State Labour Laws, Factory Regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Drive implementation of Labour Codes, legal amendments, and compliance policies across the organization.
- Develop and strengthen compliance frameworks, SOPs, and governance mechanisms.
- Monitor compliance performance through periodic reviews and dashboards.
Audit & Regulatory Readiness:
- Lead customer, internal, external, and statutory audits while ensuring continuous audit readiness.
- Manage regulatory inspections and coordinate timely closure of audit observations through CAPA.
- Maintain statutory registers, licenses, records, and documentation in line with legal requirements.
- Ensure monthly and annual customer audit compliance by tracking action plans and driving timely closure of observations.
Contractor & Vendor Compliance:
- Ensure statutory compliance of contractors and vendors in line with applicable labour laws.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and identify risks across the contractor ecosystem.
- Drive corrective actions to strengthen contractor governance and compliance maturity.
Compliance Risk & Legal Governance
- Identify and mitigate statutory, regulatory, and compliance risks.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess business impact.
- Lead compliance investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Provide compliance insights and reports to leadership for informed decision-making.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement
- Build and maintain effective relationships with government authorities, customers, certification bodies, and external auditors.
- Provide expert guidance to HR, Operations, EHS, Procurement, and business leaders on statutory compliance matters.
- Support customer due diligence, regulatory submissions, and timely renewal of statutory licenses and approvals.
External Interfaces
- Government Agencies: Liaise with government agencies regarding employment law compliance audits or investigations.
- Clients/ Customer: Prepare, review and present key talent metrics and insights with the clients during client visits and audits
- Vendors: Continually inspect, provide feedback and hold vendors accountable for providing services that meet the agreed standards
Internal Interface
- HR Team: Partner to ensure compliance with labor laws, statutory documentation, employee records, contractor compliance, and implementation of labor law amendments.
- Plant Operations: Collaborate to ensure shop-floor operations comply with statutory requirements related to working hours, contractor deployment, welfare provisions, and regulatory standards.
- EHS (Environment, Health & Safety): Coordinate to ensure compliance with the Factories Act, occupational health & safety regulations, statutory inspections, and corrective actions.
- Legal Department: Legal Department: Consult on labor law interpretations, regulatory notices, compliance risks, government inspections, litigation support, and legal compliance requirements.
