Purchase Executive – Agriculture & Food Industry

We are looking for an experienced Purchase Executive with hands-on experience in agriculture, food processing, agro commodities or FMCG. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procurement of makhana, seeds, nuts, spices, grains, pulses and other agricultural products, while ensuring the right quality, quantity and price. The role will involve supplier development, negotiations, technical evaluation, budgeting, inventory planning and coordination with QA, production and accounts teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Source and procure agricultural and food products such as makhana, seeds, nuts, spices, grains, pulses and other raw materials.
- Identify, evaluate and develop reliable farmers, traders, suppliers, processors and vendors.
- Negotiate price, quality, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial terms.
- Compare supplier quotations and prepare comparative statements for purchase decisions.
- Understand technical specifications such as grade, size, moisture, purity, broken percentage, foreign matter, infestation, colour and other quality parameters.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team for raw-material inspection, sampling and approval.
- Ensure procurement is carried out according to approved quality specifications and food-safety requirements.
- Monitor commodity prices and market trends to identify suitable procurement opportunities.
- Prepare and manage purchase budgets, cost estimates and procurement plans.
- Maintain purchase records, POs, quotations, invoices, supplier documents and agreements.
- Track purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with warehouse/inventory teams to maintain optimum stock levels and avoid overstocking or shortages.
- Work with Accounts to ensure proper invoice verification, payment coordination and reconciliation.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, price,



delivery and service.
- Develop alternate suppliers to reduce procurement risk and dependency on a single vendor.
- Support cost-control initiatives and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
- Coordinate with production and sales teams to understand material requirements and future demand.
- Maintain proper documentation and support audits and compliance requirements.
- Assist in procurement planning for domestic as well as export-oriented food products.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Food Technology, Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Administration or related field.
- 2–5 years of procurement/purchase experience in agriculture, food processing, FMCG, agro commodities or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of agricultural commodities and food raw materials.
- Experience in vendor development, price negotiation and supplier management.
- Good knowledge of quality specifications and technical parameters of food/agricultural products.
- Robust understanding of costing, budgeting and purchase price analysis.
- Good knowledge of Excel, MIS and purchase documentation.
- Ability to analyse market prices, supplier quotations and procurement costs.
- Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of GST, purchase invoices, basic commercial documentation and payment terms.
- Knowledge of FSSAI/food-safety requirements will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of export procurement/documentation will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Neemach, Madhya Pradesh and travel to supplier/vendor locations when required.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with experience in makhana, seeds, nuts, spices, grains, pulses, agro commodities or food-processing raw materials will be preferred. Experience in direct farmer sourcing, mandi/trader procurement, processing-unit procurement or export-oriented procurement will be an added advantage.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
