Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with strong hands-on experience in shipbuilding and ship repair projects. The candidate will be responsible for mechanical installation, equipment alignment, piping systems, machinery commissioning, troubleshooting, and coordination with Production, Electrical, QA/QC, Planning, and Project teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, supervise, and execute mechanical works for shipbuilding and ship repair projects.

- Supervise installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of marine machinery and equipment.

- Handle installation and maintenance of:

- Main Engine and Auxiliary Engines

- Pumps and Compressors

- Gearboxes and Couplings

- Valves and Piping Systems

- Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, Cooling Water and Bilge Systems

- Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems

- Steering Gear and Deck Machinery

- HVAC and other mechanical systems

- Review and interpret GA drawings, machinery arrangement drawings, P&IDs;, piping drawings, equipment drawings, and technical specifications.

- Ensure proper equipment foundation, positioning, alignment, leveling, and installation as per approved drawings and OEM requirements.

- Monitor mechanical piping fabrication, installation, fit-up, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning.

- Coordinate with shipyard Production and Fabrication teams to ensure timely completion of mechanical works.

- Coordinate with OEMs, subcontractors, class surveyors, consultants, and vessel representatives.

- Conduct inspections and functional tests of machinery and mechanical systems.

- Identify technical issues and provide practical solutions during installation and commissioning.

- Support harbour trials and sea trials, including troubleshooting and rectification of machinery-related observations.

- Ensure mechanical work complies with class requirements, approved drawings, specifications,



and applicable marine standards.

- Monitor manpower, materials, tools, and equipment requirements for assigned activities.

- Prepare work progress reports, inspection records, test reports, and commissioning documentation.

- Support QA/QC teams during inspections and ensure timely closure of NCRs and punch points.

- Ensure compliance with shipyard HSE requirements and safe working practices.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

- Strong knowledge of marine mechanical systems and ship machinery.

- Positive understanding of ship piping systems and machinery installation.

- Knowledge of shaft alignment, equipment alignment, coupling alignment, and machinery seating.

- Knowledge of hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning procedures.

- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, GA drawings, piping isometrics, machinery drawings, and technical specifications.

- Knowledge of marine equipment installation standards and Class requirements.

- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and piping systems.

- Knowledge of ship repair and dry-dock activities will be an advantage.

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

- 7–12 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine engineering, or heavy engineering.

- Candidates with strong hands-on experience in vessel construction, machinery installation, commissioning, or ship repair are preferred.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
