Role Purpose To lead and manage the overall Power Plant and Utilities function of the ethanol manufacturing plant, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted generation and supply of power, steam, water and other utilities required for safe, efficient and continuous plant operations.
The position will be responsible for Power Plant Operations, Boiler/Turbine, DG systems and all major utility systems, along with maintenance, energy optimization, statutory compliance and team management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Power Plant Operations
- Overall responsibility for safe and efficient operation of the plant power generation system.
- Manage Boiler, Turbine/Steam Turbine Generator (STG), DG sets and associated systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability of steam and power to plant operations.
- Monitor generation, loading, efficiency, steam consumption and fuel consumption.
- Optimize power generation and steam utilization.
- Analyze operational abnormalities and implement corrective actions.
2. Boiler & Steam System
- Ensure efficient operation of boilers and associated equipment.
- Monitor boiler parameters, steam pressure, temperature, fuel consumption and efficiency.
- Ensure proper operation of feed-water, condensate, deaerator and associated systems.
- Monitor boiler auxiliaries, pumps, fans, valves and other critical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable boiler safety and statutory requirements.
3. Utilities Management Overall responsibility for operation and availability of major utilities, including:
- DM/RO water plant
- Cooling towers and cooling-water systems
- Air compressors and instrument air systems
- Chilled water/refrigeration systems, wherever applicable
- Process and utility water systems
- Utility pumps and associated equipment
- ETP/STP and related utility systems
- Fire-water system and fire pumps
- DG and emergency power systems
- Other plant utility systems
4. Maintenance & Reliability
- Plan and monitor preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of power plant and utility equipment.
- Ensure high equipment availability and minimum unplanned downtime.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of major breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records and critical spare requirements.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Operations teams for effective maintenance.
5. Energy Management
- Monitor overall consumption of power, steam, water and fuel.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
- Optimize boiler efficiency, steam consumption and power generation.
- Develop and monitor energy-saving initiatives.
- Track key energy KPIs and submit periodic reports to management.
6. Team Leadership
- Lead Power Plant and Utilities engineers, operators, supervisors and technicians.
- Plan manpower deployment and shift operations.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability for continuous plant operations.
- Develop the technical capabilities of the team through training and on-the-job guidance.
- Promote safety, discipline and accountability within the department.
7. Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to plant safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Implement safe operating procedures, Permit-to-Work and LOTO systems.
- Ensure regular inspection and testing of boilers, pressure vessels, DG sets and other applicable equipment.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and maintain required records and certificates.
- Ensure emergency preparedness for boiler, power failure and utility-related emergencies.
8. Projects & Commissioning
- Provide technical support for new utility and power plant projects.
- Review technical specifications, equipment selection, drawings and vendor proposals.
- Coordinate installation, testing and commissioning of recent equipment.
- Identify opportunities for capacity enhancement and utility-system improvement.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
9. Spare & Cost Management
- Identify and maintain adequate stock of critical power plant and utility spares.
- Control maintenance and utility operating costs.
- Coordinate with Purchase and Stores for timely procurement of critical spares and consumables.
- Evaluate vendor performance and technical proposals.
10. MIS & Reporting Prepare and review regular MIS covering:
- Power generation and consumption
- Steam generation and consumption
- Boiler efficiency
- Fuel consumption
- Water consumption
- Utility availability
- Equipment breakdowns
- Preventive maintenance compliance
- Energy-saving initiatives
- Maintenance and operating costs

Qualification B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
Preferred Experience
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in Power Plant, Utilities, Distillery, Ethanol, Chemical, Process or similar continuous-process industries.
- Strong experience in Boiler, Turbine/Power Generation and Utility Operations.
- Experience in grain-based ethanol/distillery plants will be an added advantage.
- Candidates having experience in both Power Plant Operations and Utilities Management will be preferred.
- Experience in plant commissioning, expansion and utility optimization will be desirable.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹110,000.00 per month
